Minnie Shines in Hyoyeon’s YouTube Special
On January 22, Minnie of (G)I-DLE made a special guest appearance on Hyoyeon’s YouTube channel, “Hyo’s Level Up” . This engaging episode featured heartfelt discussions and personal revelations, highlighting Minnie’s recent achievements.
Celebrating New Releases and Accomplishments
Hyoyeon took a moment to congratulate Minnie on the release of her first solo album, “HER” , which debuted on January 21. With genuine excitement, Hyoyeon shared, “Your sexy voice suits it perfectly. I wanted to see your solo sooner. It may feel like it’s late, but perhaps this timing is the best.”
As they shared a meal that included delicacies such as yukhoe (raw beef) and jokbal (pig’s trotters) paired with red wine, the conversation flowed freely. Minnie opened up about her relationship with food and fitness, stating, “I used to diet, but now I can maintain my weight, so I eat comfortably. When I drink, my face turns red, which fans find cute. There was this one drinking talk show where my face changed completely throughout the episode!”

Honoring Group Achievements and Future Directions
Hyoyeon also celebrated (G)I-DLE’s monumental achievement of winning the Record of the Year award at the 2024 Melon Music Awards (MMA 2024). Reflecting on this proud moment, Minnie expressed her emotional response, stating, “I cried a lot. I was thinking ‘No way’ when we won, but we all started crying together. It was incredibly meaningful as a self-producing group.” That day marked another milestone as the group collectively renewed their contracts.
Hyoyeon brought up the surrounding curiosity about (G)I-DLE’s contract situation, hinting, “We were all wondering if you guys would renew your contracts. At your concert, Soyeon hinted that it could be your last.” This comment referenced a poignant performance during (G)I-DLE’s Seoul world tour where Soyeon’s revised lyrics stirred fears of disbandment among fans.

However, during their acceptance speech at MMA 2024, Soyeon reassured fans, stating, “There were rumors about disbanding because of our contracts ending, but all five of us have renewed together after discussing it.” Reflecting on this assurance, Minnie emphasized her gratitude towards Soyeon for her leadership and clarity during this uncertain time.
“People were really curious. I’m so thankful to Soyeon. As a leader, she managed to communicate everything well and persuade each member individually,” Minnie shared. She praised Soyeon for her dedication, saying, “She’s cute and nurturing, but when it comes to work, she’s sharp and focused. During recordings, she’s relentless.”
A Generous Spirit Among Friends
Minnie also shared touching anecdotes about her close-knit relationships with friends in Thailand. She revealed, “I have around 18 best friends. When we gather, I try to cover all expenses, but they won’t let me. If I say I’m stepping out, someone follows me just to ensure I don’t pay!” This humorous insight highlighted the bond they share, often deciding to split the bill equally.

Minnie’s generosity extended to her concerts, sharing how she invites her friends to join her performances in Thailand. “I invited 80 friends the year before last, and 100 last year. Despite only receiving four tickets from the company, I used my own money. Overseas concerts can be expensive, and I ended up spending 10 million won,” she disclosed. “But it’s worth it to me to have them there.”
Background and Family Support
Minnie’s financial background is equally impressive; she comes from a family with significant accomplishments. Her father held the position of vice-president at Thailand’s first bank, while her family owns a resort. Her eldest brother is in banking, and her second brother is an architect and bar owner.
