A new event titled Go Bigger is on the horizon for Pokemon Go, introducing the much-anticipated Gigantamax forms alongside a fresh series of Max Battles.
Throughout the Max Out season, Niantic’s mobile game has been enriched with exciting content. This began with the launch of Max Battles and Dynamax Pokemon, and now, trainers can look forward to the debut of Gigantamax forms.
In a fitting introduction, the iconic original Starters—Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise—will showcase their Gigantamax forms when the Go Bigger event kicks off.
Event Schedule: Start and End Dates
As per the announcement on the official Pokemon Go blog, the Go Bigger event is set to launch on Saturday, October 26, at 10:00 AM, coinciding with the Halloween 2024: Part I festivities. The event will run until Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 8:00 PM local time.
New Gigantamax Pokemon Available
The Go Bigger event will mark the introduction of the first set of Gigantamax Pokemon for players to capture, all accessible via 6-Star Max Battles:
- Gigantamax Venusaur
- Gigantamax Charizard
- Gigantamax Blastoise
Fortunately for trainers, shiny variants of each of these Gigantamax Pokemon will also be available. This increases the possibilities of encountering shiny Gigantamax Pokemon as you participate in more six-star Max Raids.
Exciting New Max Battles
The three powerful Kanto Starters will unleash their Gigantamax forms within the new 6-Star Max Raids.
To engage in these challenging new raids, players will need to collaborate with 10 to 40 trainers to defeat and capture these powerful Power Spot Bosses.
Participants will be divided into groups of four or fewer. Upon defeating the Boss, trainers will receive a number of Premier Balls to attempt catching it.
It’s essential to have at least one Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokemon in your lineup to tackle Max Battles, as they are mandatory for these encounters.
Exclusive Max Particle Pack
During the Go Bigger event, players can purchase an exclusive Max Particle Pack bundle from the Pokemon Go Web Store.
This bundle is priced at US$ 7.99 (or the equivalent in local currency) and includes:
- 6x Max Particle Packs (totaling 4,800 Max Particles)
To participate in a Max Battle, trainers are required to spend Max Particles. The cost increases with the power level of the respective Power Spot Boss. If trainers do not succeed, the entire amount of Max Particles used is refunded, allowing for another attempt.
Understanding Gigantamax
Similar to Dynamaxing, Gigantamaxing allows a Pokemon to take on a massive new form through the utilization of Max Particles. This unique mechanic debuted in Pokemon Sword & Shield, enabling Pokemon to grow in size and power.
Gigantamaxed Pokemon not only transform in appearance but also gain new moves. Each Gigantamax Pokemon possesses a G-Max Move unique to their species and can unlock two Max Moves that can be powered up for enhanced effects using Candy and Max Particles.
The Max Moves include Max Guard, which serves as a defensive maneuver that mitigates damage from opponents, and Max Spirit, which regenerates HP for the Pokemon and its teammates.
