Gin’s Future Role in One Piece and the Possibility of Being Revealed as a D. Clan Member

The release of One Piece chapter 1117 on June 17, 2024 showcased the comeback of several members of the Krieg Pirates. Among the notable figures of this notorious group, Gin’s return caused a stir among fans.

Sanji, working as a sous chef at the Baratie restaurant, once fed Gin, a notorious pirate. Despite his captain’s orders, Gin couldn’t bring himself to kill Sanji due to the latter’s kindness. The resulting battle ended in the defeat of the Krieg Pirates, and Gin promised to reunite with Luffy in the Grand Line.

Despite his absence for nearly a thousand chapters, Gin’s reappearance in the series opens the possibility for him to once again come into contact with the Straw Hat Pirates. However, the question remains as to why he has ended up on Hachinose Island. His return could make him a pivotal figure in one of the series’ most significant events, potentially even setting him up as a formidable opponent against a member of the Blackbeard Pirates.

Gin, also known as the Man-Demon, holds the position of Combat Commander within the Krieg Pirates, as stated by his captain, Don Krieg. The crew embarked on a journey along the Grand Line, but unfortunately encountered the powerful warlord, Mihawk. In a devastating defeat, the warlord completely overpowered the crew and demolished their ship.

After becoming separated from his crew, Gin attempted to make his way back from the Grand Line only to be captured by Marine officers. He was taken to the Baratie restaurant on their ship, but managed to escape and entered the restaurant, demanding food.

Despite his lack of funds, he endured being beaten by the chefs until he encountered Sanji. Knowing the feeling of hunger all too well, Sanji generously provided him with free food. With the help of his newfound ally, he was able to purchase Baratie for himself and his companions. However, their act of kindness was met with ingratitude as Don Krieg, the ungrateful man they had fed, attempted to seize control of the restaurant.

The battle erupted between them, and the Straw Hat Pirates joined in as they were present at the scene. Don Krieg attempted to take out Sanji, but Gin intervened, declaring himself as the only one capable of ending the chef’s life. A fierce fight ensued between the two, but Gin ultimately could not bring himself to harm his benefactor, who offered him a meal. In the end, it was Luffy who emerged victorious over Don Krieg.

After the Krieg Pirates departed from the Baratie restaurant and set sail towards the Grand Line, Gin entrusted Sanji with a message for Luffy – that they would cross paths once more on the Grand Line. This was the last time Gin was seen until his unexpected return in One Piece chapter 1117. One can only wonder what events transpired after the Krieg Pirates’ departure from the Baratie.

After their ship was destroyed by Mihawk, the Krieg Pirates could have potentially arrived at Water 7 following the Straw Hats’ rescue of Nico Robin. With a new ship purchased, they could have embarked on their journey as a proper pirate crew. However, due to the Straw Hat Pirates being a step ahead, the Krieg Pirates would have reached each destination after the events the Straw Hats encountered, including the Marineford War in One Piece.

After Shanks arrived, the Blackbeard Pirates fled and may have encountered the Krieg Pirates. The former group may have brought the latter crew to their headquarters on Hachinose Island. This island was also the site of one of the most significant events in the Grand Line, the Rocky Port Incident.

During the time skip, Trafalgar Law arrived at Hachinose Island’s Rocky Port and used his abilities to steal the hearts of 100 pirates, allowing him to become a warlord. Among these pirates may have been Gin. In the Egghead arc of One Piece, Law faced off against Blackbeard and it was revealed that the 100 pirates he had used were all safely kept at Hachinose Island.

In chapter 1118, the reason for these pirates’ presence on Hachinose Island became clear. Gin’s encounter with Luffy on the Grand Line could lead to him recounting the events of the Rocky Port incident.

Gin, a Potential Member of the D Clan

Despite being one of the most powerful members of the Marine Corps, Monkey D Garp chooses not to hold the title of Admiral. While many speculate that this may stem from his lack of faith in the Marines’ role as enforcers of justice, the truth may be that he wishes to conceal his identity as a ‘D’ member from the public eye.

Similarly to Garp, Gin may potentially belong to the D clan as he remains loyal to Don Krieg, who appears to be less powerful than Gin. However, it is also plausible that Gin is a person of uncertain destiny, a notion mentioned by the Five Elders during their conversation about Sabo, who was often accompanied by members of the D clan.

Gin has encountered Monkey D Luffy on Baratie, engaged in a confrontation with Trafalgar D Water Law during the Rocky Port Incident, and is currently being held by Marshall D Teech. This could suggest that Gin’s fate is uncertain or that he is unaware of his true identity as a member of the D clan.
