A viral social media post has sparked heated online discussions about respect, boundaries, and relationships after a boyfriend shared his distress over his girlfriend throwing away his beloved idol merchandise.
A man shared a post, which has been widely circulated on various platforms, about the emotional turmoil he went through when his girlfriend disposed of his treasured BLACKPINK collection.
During his nap, the man unknowingly threw away his prized possessions, which consisted of autographed items, ticket stubs, photocards, and a cherished poster from when he met the group in Taiwan in 2019.
The boyfriend expressed his heartbreak upon realizing that his painstakingly adorned display case was devoid of its contents.
Based on his version of events, his girlfriend disclosed that her obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) was the reason behind her compulsion to tidy up what she deemed as disorder.
The boyfriend, consumed by intense emotions of sorrow and rage, confronted her and eventually requested her to vacate their communal living space.
The next day, the girlfriend came back and tried to make amends by minimizing the situation and showing a willingness to put it behind them. However, her nonchalant attitude only aggravated the boyfriend’s irritation, as he believed she didn’t understand the gravity of the situation or the emotional toll it had taken on him.
The post has received an abundance of responses from online users, with the majority taking the boyfriend’s side.
The comments express a combination of anger and understanding, with numerous individuals condemning the girlfriend’s behavior as disrespectful and intrusive.
One person commented, stating, “She is not a girlfriend, but rather a perpetrator. Is it acceptable to discard someone’s belongings simply because you dislike them? What a ridiculous notion.”
Another suggested throwing away her purses and make-up products and then blaming it on your obsessive-compulsive disorder to see how she would react.
- As someone who has been a fan before, I also had a custom-made and carefully decorated album display case. So I can imagine how devastating it must be for you to have your treasured items thrown away. Especially since there were rare signed pieces! If it were me, I would have already gone completely crazy. And she has OCD-why did she throw away your stuff?
- ? How could you let him in? Please kick him out!
Numerous internet users who share the boyfriend’s passion for idol culture sympathized with his grief and were shocked that the girlfriend, despite suffering from OCD, would choose to target his possessions instead of her own.
- Thinking that a mess can be tidied up, why does it have to be thrown away? It’s intentional. People who casually throw away others’ belongings, especially cherished items, see them as just trash. So they think they’re “helping you out”by dealing with it.
- I don’t think it’s OCD. Basically, she’s just unhappy that you’re obsessed with another girl and went out of her way to clear everything. It’s pretty childish.
Some individuals, on the other hand, proposed that the boyfriend should seek professional counseling for both himself and his girlfriend in order to tackle underlying problems in their relationship. They stressed the importance of improved communication and understanding of each other’s mental health struggles.
