Girls’ Frontline 2 Developers Address Delayed Steam Release Concerns

Exciting news has emerged from the development team behind Girls’ Frontline 2 (GFL2) regarding its anticipated Steam release. Players have been eagerly awaiting updates, and the recent communication brings much-needed clarity.

Initially slated for release on December 3, 2024, coinciding with the global launch, the Steam version has faced delays, with its page remaining inactive and devoid of a new date. This situation has understandably led to frustrations among fans, particularly those loyal to Steam as their preferred gaming platform. While GFL2 has launched with a variety of updates—introducing new characters and the innovative Platoon feature—the Steam rollout has become a focal point of anticipation.

Recent Insights on Steam Release Timeline

In a recent Q&A session on X, Lead Producer Yuzhong addressed the community’s concerns. They remarked, “Since the announcement of the Steam version, it has garnered significant attention from many Commanders. Currently, we are fully focused on advancing its development.” This insight promises that the team is dedicated to ensuring a quality experience.

Yuzhong further indicated that if development proceeds smoothly, the Steam version is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2025. It is important to note that publishing rights will differ by region, aligning with existing regional distribution methods mirrored from the mobile version.

Enjoy Seamless Cross-Progression

Another exciting piece of news is the confirmation of cross-progression support in GFL2. Players can seamlessly continue their journey, regardless of whether they switch from mobile to Steam, as long as they utilize the same version (Darkwinter or Haoplay).

Upcoming Features to Enhance Gameplay

Yuzhong also shared details about new features in the works. A revamped Dormitory experience will offer player-customizable furniture and interactive options, such as unique animations where the Commander can enjoy a horror film with Makiatto.

Additionally, a Weapon Gallery is on the horizon, providing Commanders the opportunity to showcase their weapons while viewing them in a more lifelike context.
