Given: The Movie 2 to be Released with New Trailer and Poster

On Monday, July 15, 2024, the Given anime’s official website and X (previously known as Twitter) handle released a promotional video and poster to announce that their second movie, Given the Movie: To the Sea, will be hitting Japanese theatres on September 20, 2024. The brief clip also unveiled the theme song and its performer.

It was previously announced that Given, an anime series, would be receiving a two-part sequel film. The first installment, based on the original manga by Natsuki Kizu, debuted on January 27, 2024, in Japan. The production team has now confirmed that the second part will be released in Fall 2024. Furthermore, in their latest announcement, the staff hinted at the upcoming film’s conclusion.

Confirmed Premiere Date and Theme Song for 2nd Film of Given Anime

As previously stated, the official team behind the Given anime released a new promotional video for the franchise’s second film on Monday, July 15, 2024. The brief footage confirmed that the movie, titled Given the Movie: To the Sea, is set to premiere in Japan on September 20, 2024.

The most recent preview showcases the protagonist Mafuyu’s overwhelming despair, as he experiences feelings of being abandoned by those around him. In a state of melancholy, he believes he is no longer capable of singing. However, Ritsuka uses music to confront and connect with him.

The brief PV showcases the additional characters in addition to Mafuyu and Ritsuka, offering a glimpse into the storyline of the second film. Additionally, the trailer provides a sneak peek at the theme song, Ketsugen, sung by the Japanese music group, Centimillimental.

A statement from the artist has been posted on the official website of the anime, in which they expressed that the song reflects the essence of life. Centimillimental specifically crafted the song for the Given anime, conveying their sincere dedication to the project. This is not the first time the band has worked on the franchise, as they also performed the theme song for the previous film, titled Super Ultra I Love You.

The promotional poster for the second film of the Given anime has been released, featuring Mafuyu, Ritsuka, Akihiko, and Haruki standing in the busy streets of Shibuya. Mafuyu appears with downcast eyes, while Ritsuka and the others gaze back at him. The backdrop includes a prominent advertisement for Hiiragi and Gensumi displayed on a building behind them.

Additionally, it was announced on both the anime’s website and X account that movie ticket cards with bonuses will be available for purchase on July 27, 2024. These bonuses will include polaroid-style cards featuring original illustrations by Natsuki Kizu.

At Lerche studio, Noriko Hashimoto directs the two-part sequel movie project for the Given anime. The screenplay is written by Yuniko Ayana, the character designer is Mina Osawa, and Michiru serves as the music composer.

Shogo Yano portrays Mafuyu Sato and Yuma Uchida lend his voice to Ritsuka Uenoyama. Joining them are Masamoto Nakazawa as Hakuri, Shintaro Asanuma as Ugetsu, Taito Ban as Shizusumi, Fumiya Imai as Hiiragi, Takuya Eguchi as Akihiko, and many more talented actors.
