“Gojo Deserves More” – Fans Outraged at Akutami Over Jujutsu Kaisen’s Heartbreaking Conclusion for Beloved Character

The alleged spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 have sent shockwaves through the fanbase, suggesting an underwhelming conclusion to the series. While many anticipated the return of Satoru Gojo in the final chapter, what fans received were merely a few panels featuring him in conversation with Yuji, leaving much to be desired.

The notable absence of Satoru Gojo’s name in the closing chapters led fans to speculate that creator Gege Akutami was gearing up for his comeback. However, the culmination into a single flashback frustrated many, prompting them to voice their disappointment on social media regarding Gojo’s treatment throughout the storyline.

The Anticlimactic Conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen for Gojo

Satoru Gojo has undoubtedly become one of the most cherished characters in recent anime history. As a side character, his popularity frequently overshadowed even that of the series itself. After meeting his demise in chapter 236 at the hands of Sukuna, theories about his potential return began to circulate widely among fans.

As fans speculated that the spoilers for chapter 271 would hint at Gojo’s resurrection or, at the very least, provide closure regarding his burial, they were ultimately met with disappointment. Despite being a pivotal character, Gojo appeared only briefly in a flashback.

Fans React to Gojo’s Conclusion

Many followers voiced their frustration, arguing that Gojo deserved significantly better treatment. Some suggested that Gege would continue to hear about Gojo despite allegedly disapproving of the character. Several fans noted that Gojo’s characterization as merely a weapon extended through to the final chapter, where none of his students or comrades were shown mourning his loss.

Others theorized that Gege may have intentionally limited Gojo’s appearance to a single flashback in the concluding chapter to dispel any lingering hopes of his return.

“Gege putting Gojo in the final chapter just to make Gojo stans sad one last time is absolutely diabolical work,”one fan remarked.

“So Gojo really was a weapon in the end to everyone, huh? No one gaf about his death, he wasn’t brought up at all EVERYONE SHOULD GO DIE,”another fan added.

Fans lamented that despite being the strongest sorcerer, Satoru Gojo became a casualty of poor storytelling choices, which many believe directly affected the series’ legacy. For instance, while Megumi’s sister received closure with a scene showcasing her grave, Gojo was afforded no such respect. Fans felt that any humor regarding Gege’s dislike of Gojo was misplaced when taken seriously in the narrative context.

“GOJO SATORU a victim of bad plot choices and writing💔,”one fan posted.

“Gege gave us a proper burial for Megumi’s sister, not even Gojo or Geto. This is so tragic,”another fan chimed in.

“I miss when Gege hating Gojo used to be a joke,”a fan expressed.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 is set to be officially released on September 29, 2024 (ET), marking the definitive end of the series. While no part 2 has been announced yet, fans remain hopeful for a continuation of the story alongside Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, which is expected to adapt the Culling Games arc and is slated for a 2025 release.
