The fourth popularity poll for Jujutsu Kaisen has recently been announced, and it has revealed a surprising entry in the top 10 rankings.
As we approach the conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen, we are given a glimpse of the manga’s most beloved characters. In 2024, the series conducted its fourth popularity poll, and the results were revealed in the latest edition of the Weekly Shonen Jump.
In June, we were informed of the initial three victors of the survey, all thanks to a well-known insider. Gojo claimed the top spot for the first time, having previously placed second or third in past polls. What’s more, he received an astounding 113,392 votes, greatly surpassing his previous entries.
Considering Gojo’s immense popularity within the series, it is no surprise that he holds the top spot. Similarly, it was expected for Yuji to come in second with 48,131 votes and for Megumi to secure third place with 28,502 votes, as they are also highly favored characters in the top three.
Despite the confusion of many fans, Naoya Zenin holds the fifth spot in the ranking with 11,731 votes, placing him above several beloved characters in Jujutsu Kaisen such as Choso, Yuta, Nanami, Sukuna, and Toji, who hold lower positions. This unexpected placement of Naoya has sparked discussion among fans.
Despite being the heir of the Zenin clan and a major antagonist in Maki’s character development, it is not Naoya’s villainous actions that surprise fans, but rather his personality. Naoya is a misogynistic elitist who consistently belittles Maki and Mai for their gender and lack of cursed energy.
Despite being defeated by Maki during the Perfect Preparation Arc, he still holds onto his hatred for being bested by a woman. This ultimately leads to his rebirth as a cursed spirit, and once again meeting his demise at the hands of Maki. Unfortunately, he possesses no redeeming qualities.
Despite there being no apparent justification, Naoya has surprisingly garnered a large number of votes, causing confusion among the fandom. As expressed by one X user on Twitter, “Naoya beating Sukuna is more painful than the Black Flash.”
“One person noted that while Naoya was in 5th place, Maki and Nobara were not in the top ten. Another person questioned how Naoya could be ranked higher than Sukuna and Nanami.”
A fourth person expressed confusion over Japanese people choosing Naoya instead of Toji in the voting process.
Despite the puzzling popularity poll results, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 267 will bring back a beloved character from the dead. Fans can anticipate the release of the new chapter on August 25, 2024.
In addition, you have the ability to discover all of the significant character fatalities in the show.
