Gojo’s Curse on Geto in Jujutsu Kaisen

Despite not being the main characters, Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto have played a crucial role in Jujutsu Kaisen’s rise to fame. Their presence in the series has had a significant impact on the show’s universe, with Gojo, known as the most powerful sorcerer in the current jujutsu society, disrupting the balance of the jujutsu world with his birth.

It has been continuously emphasized that his birth had a significant impact on the prevalence and strength of curses, as well as the emergence of new, highly powerful ones. In contrast, Geto was born with a unique Cursed Technique that enables him to consume curses. This contrast between the two friends’ Cursed Techniques has sparked theories that connect the very existence of Gojo and Geto.

It is believed by many fans that Gojo’s birth may have been the catalyst for Geto’s possession of the Cursed Spirit Manipulation, a Cursed Technique that Gojo himself rejects. As a result, it is possible that Gojo unknowingly cursed Geto from the moment of his birth, binding their destinies together.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Possible Foreshadowing of Geto and Gojo’s Connection from Birth

The strong bond and friendship between Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo is a well-known fact among Jujutsu Kaisen fans, with Gojo frequently declaring Geto as his closest friend. According to a popular theory, it is believed that Gojo and Geto may have been destined to be connected since their birth.

The story depicts how Gojo’s presence upset the equilibrium of the jujutsu realm, resulting in the increased strength of curses and the appearance of formidable special-grade curses such as Mahito, Jogo, Dagon, and Hanami. Geto, who was born only two months after Gojo, possesses a Cursed Technique that enables him to consume curses, a power that is in opposition to Gojo’s ability to banish them.

These theories propose that Gojo’s birth had a direct impact on Suguru Geto’s existence, particularly his Cursed Energy, in order to maintain equilibrium in the jujutsu world. It is possible that Mangaka Gege Akutami hinted at this significant connection between the two characters throughout the story of Jujutsu Kaisen.

According to these theories, Gojo’s overwhelming Cursed Energy caused a disturbance in the balance of the jujutsu world, leading to the creation of Geto who possessed a Cursed Technique capable of manipulating and consuming curses.

Upon examining their backgrounds, it was discovered that Gojo was born on December 7, 1989, followed by Geto on February 3, 1990, just two months later. It is worth noting that Geto comes from a family with no known history or records of sorcerers, making his special-grade Cursed Technique extremely uncommon. Master Tengen even described Geto’s existence as an anomaly, as mentioned in chapter 145 of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Geto had alluded to the fact that his Cursed Technique was repulsive to him. According to the theory, his body may not have been inherently compatible with it, but was altered to compensate for the heightened amount of curses.

As Gojo’s power continued to grow, the number and strength of curses also increased in order to maintain equilibrium. As a result, Geto’s Cursed Spirit Manipulation became an essential skill for sorcerers, enabling them to absorb and repurpose curses for their own benefit.

As Gojo’s strength continued to increase, so did the power and malevolence of the curses. As a result, Geto was forced to consume more and more potent and malicious curses as time passed. By examining these details, it becomes evident that while Gojo purged curses, Geto absorbed and recycled them, maintaining the delicate balance and harmony of the jujutsu world.

In the narrative, Geto expressed how this process greatly affected his mental state, comparing the taste of curses to “a rag used to clean up vomit.”This ultimately led to his downfall, indicating that Geto’s fate was sealed from the start with the burden he had to bear. This could possibly explain why Kenjaku kept a close watch on Geto, as observed by Tengen in chapter 145.

The information presented implies that Gojo’s birth required the presence of an individual with the ability to absorb the darkness produced by Gojo’s powerful light. Geto, who was born with a Cursed Technique that he despised, was the one to absorb this darkness.

Final Remarks

Despite the lack of canonical confirmation, Jujutsu Kaisen’s story consistently intertwines the characters of Gojo and Geto in intricate ways, suggesting a connection between their births and existence.

Based on these facts, it can be concluded that Gojo unknowingly placed a curse on Geto since birth, and Gege Akutami has possibly alluded to this throughout the narrative.
