Golden Globes: Spider-Man fans angry at The Boy and the Heron

The Golden Globes ceremony rewarded the gems of the year, but many excellent films left empty-handed. And that doesn’t please fans of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Award ceremonies in cinema are sometimes predictable, sometimes surprising, but there is one rule that does not change: where there is one winner, there are also several losers. Which can quickly end in drama on social networks for fans, who cannot always digest the news.

The Golden Globes officially kicked off the festivities, naming feature films such as Killers of the Flower Moon, Poor Things and Oppenheimer among the greatest successes of this panel.

But there is one that has not won any statuette, despite its undeniable quality: Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse. And fans of the animated film, skillfully mixing the styles of pop culture and the superheroic genre, do not appreciate seeing first place slip away from under their noses. According to some, the statuette was even “stolen” by the opponent.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse victime des Golden Globes?

An entire community is struggling to recover from the hard blow: fans of Marvel, animated films or simply the Spider, believe that the latest Spider-Man film has been “stolen” his victory at the 2024 Golden Globes.

It must be said that the competition was tough: opposite this second opus, certainly excellent, there was the return of a master in his field, in the person of Hayao Miyazaki. Faced with the Japanese feature film The Boy and the Heron, the spider was eaten alive. News that does not go down well with some Miles Morales aficionados.

“Congratulations to THE BOY AND THE HERON for winning the Golden Globe for Best Animated Film. Spider-Man has been robbed!”

“Oh WOW! We’re REALLY seeing a close race for best animated feature film! The Boy and the Heron knocks out Spider-Man and wins the Golden Globe!” joked another.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse didn’t win any Golden Globes. / It should have won Best Animated Film and Best Music.” .”

The Boy and the Heron stronger than the Spider?

Obviously, not everyone was of the same opinion. As good as the feature film is, it had to face a regular on the podiums with Hayao Miyazaki. And for the spectators, the feature film released from Studio Ghibli deserved its price.

“Anyone who says Spider-Man was robbed hasn’t seen The Boy and the Heron because that film is one of Hayao Miyazaki’s BEST. I’m really happy he won.”

“The Boy and the Heron is the first non-English film to win Best Animated Film at the Golden Globes. / It’s one of the best anime I’ve ever seen, it’s deserved.”

While Spider-Man left empty-handed, The Boy and the Heron continues to convince audiences around the world, setting box office records. As for Spidey, he can try his luck again with Beyond The Spider-Verse.
