Goo Hye-sun Exposes Betrayal by Friends, Financial Loss, and Theft of Her Paintings

During the broadcast of KBS 2TV’s “Let’s Live Together with Park Won-sook” on October 17th, Goo Hye-sun and Kim Mi-ryeo opened up about their experiences with betrayal from acquaintances.

Kim Mi-ryeo shared a harrowing tale about being financially taken advantage of and threatened with compromising photos. In response, Goo Hye-sun recounted her own troubling experiences, stating, “I frequently lent money to friends facing hardships. My thought process was, ‘They must really need my support to reach out.’ Hence, I offered them financial assistance, hoping to alleviate their problems. Although they didn’t pay me back, I reassured them by saying, ‘You can return it later.’ However, it was painful to discover their dishonesty, and this pattern continued. Eventually, I began to question if I had done something wrong. I realized that perhaps if I had declined from the outset, our relationship might not have been impacted so severely. I learned that sometimes, setting boundaries is crucial for maintaining relationships.”

Goo Hye-sun mentioned that she had lent out as much as 10 million KRW to individual friends. Park Won-sook remarked, “That amount is less than what Hyeeunyee lost.” Hyeeunyee empathized, “But if each of those friends lost 10 million KRW, and you multiply it by 10 or 20 people…”

To this, Goo Hye-sun responded, “I’ve given money to various friends,” prompting Park Won-sook to comment, “Hyeeunyee has become quite savvy about financial losses. She’s learned to recognize when someone is trying to exploit her.”

Further, Goo Hye-sun shared another distressing episode, stating, “I have had numerous paintings stolen. I once lent out 20 pieces and only received 18 back. As an artist, it was obvious to me. Yet, when the other person denied it, I downplayed the situation by saying, ‘Oh, I guess I only sent 18′ and chose to let it slide. Later, I discovered the missing artworks at an auction.”

She disclosed that each of her paintings was valued at 1 million KRW, adding, “Some of my pieces take up to a year to finish.” Goo Hye-sun explained her confrontation with the person involved, stating, “I texted them, ‘I’m aware of everything. Don’t think you can keep deceiving me.’ After that, they made a genuine effort to be honest, and we have since kept a polite but distant relationship.”

Hyeeunyee commented, “The hardest part is dealing with the pain inflicted by those you place your trust in.”
