Goo Hye-sun Reveals Concussion and Facial Injuries from Car Accident, Shares Staff Dislike

On the October 10th episode of KBS 2TV’s “Let’s Live Together with Park Won-sook,” actress Goo Hye-sun made her debut as the youngest participant on the show.

During her first meeting with the show’s members, Goo Hye-sun opened up about her educational journey. She mentioned, “I began university in 2011 but had to pause my studies due to my acting career. I returned in 2020 and completed my degree this year at Sungkyunkwan University. I’ve since enrolled in KAIST for graduate studies. As a child, I wasn’t fond of academics, but now I find joy in learning and even appreciate doing my assignments. I aim to attain a master’s degree followed by a doctorate.”

Goo Hye-sun reflected on her demanding experience filming “Boys Over Flowers,” stating, “I was in peak physical condition back then and could work overnight without fatigue. One day, a crew member approached me and said, ‘Hye-sun, please say you’re hungry so we can eat and clean.’ I hastily washed my hair with soap in a water tap and rushed back to set, leaving the crew unable to do the same, which led to some resentment towards me.”

She elaborated on the immense pressure she experienced, saying, “I feared that if I asked for a meal, I would jeopardize my role. I was cast because of my stamina, so even when unwell, I persevered.”

While portraying a swimmer in “Boys Over Flowers,” she encountered a diving mishap. “I was practicing diving scenes alone and fell headfirst. I wasn’t aware that it was improper to dive that way. I suffered from symptoms like vomiting for several days,” she revealed, disclosing her concussion.

Towards the conclusion of filming, Goo Hye-sun was involved in a serious car accident. “I bled so much that my face was severely injured, and the vehicle was totaled. The show had to air a special episode since filming came to a halt, and I required stitches for my face. We couldn’t afford to postpone the airing again, so I acted using primarily facial expressions.”

Despite enduring these injuries, Goo Hye-sun continued her filming responsibilities. “I faced numerous accidents and injuries, which eventually made me fearful,” she disclosed.

Additionally, she revealed that she had to exit the drama “You’re Too Much” after only six episodes due to her health. “I developed allergies to multiple foods, including beef, pork, eggs, milk, and shellfish, leaving rice as my only option. I experienced anaphylactic shock and collapsed in a public restroom, where a cleaning staff member heroically intervened by breaking down the door to rescue me. Since then, I have been extremely cautious about what I eat.”
