‘Good Partner’ Stars Ji Seung-hyun and Kwak Shi-yang Apologize for Their Villain Roles

On September 6th, Kwak Shi-yang commented, “Yes, that’s right. I’m sorry. Cheon Hwan-seo is a bad guy.” He added, “Please only judge based on my acting. Go ‘Good Partner’! I did it because I was asked to.”

Kwak Shi-yang starred in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Good Partner’ on September 6th and 7th, taking on the role of Cheon Hwan-seo, the chairman of the Cheon Medical Foundation. His portrayal of a domestic abuser who tortured and assaulted his wife, ultimately leading to her death, left viewers shocked.

Continuing his villainous role, he depicted strangling and threatening Cha Eun-kyung (Jang Nara). In the end, his character received a 15-year prison sentence, which provided a sense of justice to the audience.

In a related note, Ji Seung-hyun, who also played an unfaithful husband, released a public apology video. He expressed, “I am truly sorry. First, I extend my sincere apologies to Cha Eun-kyung, who was hurt by my infidelity in the drama. When I say ‘sincere,’ I mean deeply sincere.”

He went on, “I also offer my heartfelt apologies to Choi Sa-ra, my partner in the drama’s infidelity. I committed the unforgivable act of ‘living a double life.’”

Lastly, Ji Seung-hyun stated, “I apologize to the viewers as well. I understand that there have been strong reactions due to my portrayal, and some have said they feel distressed. I am sorry for that too.”
