Kinema Citrus, the studio behind the popular Made In Abyss anime, is celebrating its 15th anniversary by producing new projects. At the Anime Central convention in Chicago on May 18, 2024, Kinema Citrus held a special panel where they announced two new original anime in the works. One of these projects is titled Goodbye, Lara.

After the announcement, Kinema Citrus launched an official website for Goodbye, Lara, where viewers can find concept trailers and information about the staff. The studio also unveiled a PV for the upcoming original anime, showcasing the main characters and providing a sneak peek into the plot.
Farewell, Lara is a contemporary Japanese adaptation of the beloved fairy tale The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. The tale centers around a mermaid who defies the rules and desires to be loved by a human. Following her passing, the mermaid is reincarnated two centuries later in present-day Japan, specifically in Lake Biwa, where she must adapt to life among humans.
