Google’s Unique Battle Royale Game: What You Didn’t Expect

A new interactive Google Doodle has introduced a delightful battle royale game where players compete as popcorn kernels, and here’s everything you need to know about this fun addition.

When we think of the battle royale genre, popular titles like Fortnite, Apex Legends, or PUBG usually come to mind. However, Google has surprised us with its own unique twist on this genre, thanks to the exciting new Google Doodle.

In celebration of Popcorn Day on September 25, 2024, Google has unveiled a popcorn-themed battle royale game. The objective is straightforward: as a popcorn kernel, your mission is to avoid becoming popcorn.

In this game, you will face off against other players located in the same hot pan. In the center of the pan, a giant butter periodically rains down projectiles, adding a fun chaotic element to the gameplay.

You can choose to play as one of three distinct types of popcorn kernels, one of which has the ability to use a shield for added defense.

Utilizing your arrow keys, you’ll need to dodge the incoming projectiles and survive longer than your competitors. Unlike traditional battle royales, this game does not involve eliminating enemies with weapons. Instead, players select their popcorn kernel type at the beginning of the game.

Feeling adventurous? The kernel with the power to catch projectiles and toss them back at opponents for extra chaos may be the perfect fit for you. Alternatively, if you prefer a more cautious approach, you can opt for the kernel that can heal itself or deploy a temporary shield.

These special abilities are activated by simply pressing the spacebar. Additionally, you have the choice to play in a squad right from the start of the game.

This charming and light-hearted battle royale game is not only entertaining but also offers a nostalgic nod to fans of bullet hell games like the Touhou series, featuring similar projectile dodging mechanics.
