Gorosei in One Piece Could Potentially Duplicate Blackbeard’s Greatest Accomplishment

Blackbeard stands out as one of the most enigmatic figures in the One Piece universe, renowned for his unique capability to harness the powers of two distinct devil fruits—and possibly more, if we consider his confrontations with the Amazon Lily and Heart Pirates. The underlying reasons for Blackbeard’s extraordinary ability to manipulate multiple devil fruits remain shrouded in mystery. Many fans theorize that it could be related to his possession of multiple hearts.

This notion might suggest a form of partial immortality, indicating that defeating him could require several attempts. Yet, this raises an intriguing question: are there immortal entities present in the story? If so, would they also be able to wield more than two devil fruits? The Gorosei come to mind, as they are believed to possess immortality, which leads to the conclusion that they could potentially be hosts for various devil fruit abilities.

In the world of One Piece, the powers granted by devil fruits play a crucial role in determining the strength of various characters, along with Haki. Upon consuming a devil fruit, individuals are bestowed with extraordinary abilities. Although the rationale behind this peculiar mechanism remains unexplained, a theory posited by Jabra from Cipher Pol suggests that each devil fruit is inhabited by a spirit that grants its powers to the eater.

The series has firmly established that an individual can typically harness the capabilities of only one devil fruit. Ingesting a second one, contrary to possessing an existing power, would lead to the user’s body disintegrating. Jabra’s theory infers that this phenomenon might arise from the spirits of the devil fruits battling within the host’s body, but scientific reasoning undermines this proposition.

Nevertheless, there exists an exception to this general rule: Marshall D. Teech, better known as Blackbeard. This was highlighted during the Paramount War arc, where the Blackbeard Pirates launched an assault on Marineford, resulting in Blackbeard seizing Whitebeard’s Tremor-Tremor fruit under enigmatic circumstances.

Such events fueled the speculation surrounding Blackbeard’s potential possession of more than one heart, contributing to his notion of partial immortality. The Five Elders, however, may achieve this ability with greater efficiency owing to their presumed immortality.

This theory could illuminate why, during the Egghead arc, Luffy’s most potent attacks fail to inflict significant damage on the Gorosei. In addition to their demonstrated Zoan devil fruit forms, it’s possible that the Gorosei possess other powers yet to be revealed.

Concluding Thoughts

This article should be viewed purely as entertainment, grounded in speculative theories regarding the Gorosei’s supposed immortality and the additional abilities they may hold beyond their yokai transformations.

Such speculation may become increasingly relevant, especially if the Gorosei are highlighted further before the climactic showdown with the Straw Hat Pirates. For example, Imu’s sudden elimination of Saturn, coupled with Luffy’s repeated attempts to defeat the Gorosei, could serve as pivotal evidence of the Five Elders’ existence of immortality.
