In the previous episode, Shouzou Saitou asked his wife Ine what she would do if they were able to be young again. They recalled their impoverished youth when they couldn’t afford a honeymoon. Ine expressed her satisfaction in simply conversing with her husband. They revisited the apple tree they had planted at the beginning of their marriage, 60 years ago, and were surprised to find a golden apple growing on its branches. After consuming the apple, they were magically transformed into young versions of themselves, although their hair remained white.
The episode shifted its focus towards the family’s responses, with Shouzou’s youthful appearance captivating his granddaughter, Mino, and daughter-in-law, Kaede, while their eldest son, Yoshiaki, was visibly annoyed. However, Ine’s gesture of patting his head and recognizing his hard work softened him, although he maintained his stoic demeanor.
The episode featured Shouzou and Ine reconnecting with their former acquaintances. Shouzou’s charm was evident as he joined the elderly women in their regular croquet matches at the park, while Ine dutifully served tea to the older men.
Later, their friends convinced them to participate in the Inter-town Sports Festival, believing they would be an asset to their team, Minamimachi Neighborhood Association, in their quest to defeat the Kitamachi Neighborhood Council. Despite Igarashi Heisuke’s pride in his grandchildren, Shouta and Daiki, they were ultimately overpowered by the Saitous’ superior strength, skill, and teamwork on the day of the competition.
Later, when Ine distributed the food she had made to the Igarashis, it was discovered that Heisuke had confessed his love for her when they were younger.
As a gesture of appreciation, Heisuke had some food delivered to the Saitous’ residence by Shouta. During the exchange, it was discovered that Shouta had feelings for Mino, unaware of her connection to the Saitous. Mino was impressed by Shouta’s athletic abilities and later expressed her desire to spend time with him.
