During the previous episode, two students were walking home through an orchard and were overheard discussing their lack of interest in farming. Instead, they shared their dreams of moving to the city. However, their encounter with Ine left them captivated.
Soon, Shouzou arrived to pick her up in his truck, causing the boys to reassess their opinions on farming and farmers.
The scene then depicted Shouzou’s discovery of Ine admiring dresses on flyers, and his subsequent surprise of her with a beautiful white dress. Ine’s cheeks turned rosy with joy. As per Ine’s wish, they also watched a romantic drama, and afterwards, she asked Shouzou to reenact a particular scene.
Hence, the audience witnessed Shouzou’s kabedon performance. Ine insisted that it did not affect her, but deep down she was delighted. Towards the end of the episode, they also shared their first hand-holding experience while walking.
In this episode, we were introduced to Takahiro’s daughter, Shiori. She was facing challenges at home and school, but she found solace in her relationship with Ine, despite being initially surprised by her transformation.
The scene also depicted Ine’s struggle in selecting a swimwear to impress Shouzou. Despite Shiori’s reminder to be open-minded and that it was for her husband, Ine abruptly ended the conversation by leaving the room.
Viewers were able to witness how Ine skillfully handled a scammer, Mino’s sly attempt to have her compliment Shouzou, and Ine’s clever response in exposing her knowledge of Mino’s crush, all of which provide insight into different aspects of Shouzou and Ine’s daily life.
Shouzou and Ine’s unexpected visit to Takahiro’s clinic surprised him. During their visit, it was revealed that Ine had battled with a series of illnesses including gastroenteritis and liver cancer. This motivated Takahiro to become a doctor, with the goal of treating and curing his mother’s health issues.
Despite not having a hand in it, seeing them young and healthy again made him feel that his efforts were still worthwhile.
The apple tree, which had almost been destroyed by a typhoon, was revisited in the episode. Shouzou, determined to save it, had bandaged and supported the tree in order to keep it alive.
The tree bore a golden apple that Shouzou and Ine consumed, causing them to transform into youthful individuals. Soon after, the tree withered away. However, prior to this, they both experienced a terrifying dream in which they were crushed by a colossal hourglass.
In the current moment, it happened to be the 58th anniversary of their marriage. Ine had made sekihan for Shouzou, and he had purchased a slice of cake. The two ended the occasion by admiring each other’s unique quirks.
