‘Grandpa’ Kang Chul-won Accompanies Fubao To China Despite His Mother’s Passing Recently

During the April 2nd broadcast of SBS’s “Fubao and Grandpa 2” , Fubao’s “grandpa” Kang Chul-won made an appearance. He reflected on the meaningful four-year journey with Fubao and shared his emotions about bidding farewell to her.

After realizing that Fubao had left a vacancy, Kang Chul-won made the decision to assist Fubao in adjusting to its new surroundings. He expressed his concerns, stating, “I am worried about how I will manage to return to Korea after accompanying Fubao to its new home. I do not want to leave it alone, so I will take some time to gather my thoughts and find peace of mind.”Additionally, he shared, “To me, Fubao will always be like a baby panda. I do not want to think of this as a farewell. The adorable image of Fubao will forever remain in our hearts.”

The letter written by zookeeper Kang was made public, during which he recited its contents, stating “The day has arrived, a day I have been dreading. However, I believe that when difficult times come together, it is a sign of better days to come.”He also expressed his concerns about having to return alone and admitted to being easily moved to tears, but vowed to remain strong and not cry too much.

Through tears, he admitted, “While you may hold grandpa responsible for his departure, I have faith that you will adjust to your new surroundings with ease. You will be cherished and content.”He then added, “I promise to come and see you soon. We will reunite. Grandpa is grateful to have you. I will always remember you. Farewell, Fubao. I love you.”

Despite the recent passing of his mother on the 2nd, it was reported that Everland zookeeper Kang Chul-won still chose to fulfill his previously scheduled trip to China with Fubao on the 3rd. This decision garnered sympathy from many.
