Gray Zone Warfare Factions Explained: How to Change, Differences, More

With three different factions to choose from in Gray Zone Warfare, the question remains: which one should you choose?

Gray Zone Warfare is a highly immersive shooter that combines war simulation and survival elements, immersing players into a perilous warzone. The game draws heavy inspiration from Escape from Tarkov, including the inclusion of multiple factions that players must select from.

The following is a breakdown of each faction in Gray Zone Warfare and the optimal choice among them.

Factions in Gray Zone Warfare

Gray Zone Warfare allows players to align themselves with distinctive organizations at the beginning of the game. These factions determine the location of your Base Camp, assign you missions to acquire loot, and influence the NPCs you encounter.

Choose your faction wisely.

There are three groups available for selection in Gray Zone Warfare – Lamang Recovery Initiative, Mithras Security Systems, and Crimson Shield International. Each Private Military Company (PMC) has a unique background and motivation for being present in Lamang, which can be explored further below.

Only Recovery Initiative

Following ‘the event’ that caused the destruction of a portion of Lamang, the Lamang Recovery Initiative was established as a charitable group with the aim of locating and safeguarding survivors in the midst of Gray Zone Warfare. With the United Nations having abandoned the region entirely, the responsibility of conducting clean-up efforts on the island now falls upon the LRI.

In addition, they are provided with professional security teams who can shield them from other factions that seek to take advantage of Lamang.

Security Systems by Mithras

The developers describe Mithras Security Systems as a private military company (PMC) led by soldiers and following the Roman Legion tradition of equally distributing the spoils of war among its members. Prospective members of MSS must possess extensive training and a proven track record of completing missions.

The disadvantage is that the background checks are not the most stringent, resulting in the possibility of new recruits with questionable motives or a less than perfect record.

Crimson Shield International

Crimson Shield International is the final faction available for Gray Zone Warfare. This PMC is known for its ruthlessness and willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. With a 95% success rate on all missions, they are highly effective, although often at the expense of innocent bystanders due to their history of causing “collateral damage.”

If your main focus is solely on the rewards and not the methods, then this faction may be the perfect fit for you.

Can you team with players in different GZW factions?

In Gray Zone Warfare, it is not possible to team up with players from a different faction. Your squad can only consist of members from your organization, so remember this when choosing your allies.

How to Change Faction in Gray Zone Warfare

Resetting their characters entirely allows Gray Zone Warfare players to switch factions.

The developers have also verified that players can change factions after every wipe, allowing them to switch sides without losing their progress, as long as they are willing to wait.

Remember that you are only allowed to reset your character once every hour, as the minimum requirement for a character reset is 1 hour of gameplay.

Additionally, included are some recommendations for effectively using voicechat when playing with friends, as well as the optimal settings to select. Furthermore, if you plan on taking on missions, a comprehensive list of tasks is provided.
