The last episode of Season 20 portrayed Catherine as the ultimate antagonist, as she persistently dismissed the show’s central characters.

As they refused to give up their Alzheimer’s research to Dr. Koracick while employed at the Fox Foundation, she terminated the employment of Meredith Grey, Amelia Shepard, and Teddy Altman.

Despite Teddy’s husband, Owen, standing by her decision to save Station 19’s Theo Ruiz’s leg instead of amputating it, both of them ended up on Catherine’s bad side. Even though the procedure was a success, they still faced Catherine’s anger.

Following the termination of key staff members and a few entry-level interns, Bailey appeared to reach her limit with Catherine’s power-hungry behavior. In the Season 20 finale, she confrontingly questioned, “What about me? Am I expendable to you?”

In the Season 21 trailer, Catherine responded to Bailey’s question by simply stating that she was “just a doctor.”However, Bailey proceeded to slap her in response.

Fans of Grey’s Anatomy were thrilled to witness someone finally stand up to Catherine, as her recent behavior has been fueled by her and her son Jackson’s majority ownership of the hospital since Season 9.

“One fan commented on the TikTok, stating that the slap was a long time coming, while another added that the person deserved it.”

“Another viewer commented, “I was completely surprised and let out the loudest gasp I’ve ever made.”
