The movie claimed the number one spot on the platform’s movie chart just two days following its premiere on September 6.
While the plot is designed to attract every dad with a Netflix account, many viewers were captivated by the stellar performances of the lead actors, particularly Aaron Pierre as the composed yet formidable Terry.
One fan posted on X/Twitter, “Don Johnson’s slow realization that he f*cked up during this scene, starting with when Aaron Pierre cuts through his bullshit with ‘ALLOW ME TO FINISH.’ REBEL RIDGE is on my favorites of 2024 list, and it dropped yesterday. It is FANTASTIC.”
Another viewer commented, “Rebel Ridge (2024) on Netflix is awesome. Aaron Pierre is a force and feels like you should at least interview him for Bond.”
In addition to the outstanding acting, viewers were impressed by the film’s intense action sequences that kept them on the edge of their seats.
Many are comparing “Rebel Ridge”to other prominent action franchises featuring tough protagonists, akin to Jack Reacher or Rambo.
This Netflix hit represents the fifth project for director Jeremy Saulnier, known for his mix of horror and thrillers since his debut film, “Murder Party,”in 2007.
A number of fans voiced their admiration for Saulnier’s skill in crafting memorable shots through minimalist camera work, evident throughout his latest film.
“I love how [Rebel Ridge] is slow but still full of energy, and it’s f**king badass without being flashy,” a viewer wrote, “The whole movie is full of seemingly simple sequences like this that are complicated as hell to execute.”
