GTA 6 Continues to Set Unwanted Records for Rockstar Games

Grand Theft Auto 6 continues to break records set by previous Rockstar titles, but there’s one specific record no GTA enthusiast wishes for the highly anticipated game to hold.

For years, Rockstar Games has operated shrouded in secrecy, particularly regarding GTA 6. Fans have been left in the dark with little to no updates, fueling anticipation and frustration.

This changed in late 2024 when Rockstar finally unveiled the first trailer for the new game, revealing an expanded Vice City, featuring two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, alongside a release window set for fall 2025.

However, since the trailer’s release, communication from Rockstar has once again fallen silent. There’s been no new content in GTA Online, no subtle hints on social media, and absolutely no updates. This silence has led fans to speculate about potential delays.

Moreover, GTA 6 has set some unwelcome records within the Rockstar realm. As of September, coinciding with the 11-year anniversary of GTA 5, the drought of GTA 6 news has stretched to nearly 300 days since the first trailer.

In comparison, GTA 5 experienced a gap of 253 days between its trailers, while Red Dead Redemption 2 had a 214-day hiatus between significant updates.

“They did warn us with that last trailer. Love is a long, long road,” remarked one fan, referencing the use of the song “Love Is a Long Road”in the initial trailer.

“C’mon, post some damn screenshots,” another fan pleaded. “I miss the old Rockstar when new GTA games were released every 3-4 years. Those were good times,” observed yet another user.

While the prolonged wait has raised concerns for some fans, others remain unfazed. “A single screenshot at this point would cause a major earthquake, and they know it lol,” commented one amused fan.

As previously mentioned, there are apprehensions about possible delays. Nonetheless, sources indicate that Rockstar employees are targeting Fall 2025, giving hope for an announcement soon.
