Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has shed light on the prolonged development timeline of Grand Theft Auto 6, attributing it to various intricate challenges. He has reiterated that the anticipated release is still set for 2025.
The creation of GTA 6 has been an extensive process, officially acknowledged by Rockstar Games only at the close of 2023, when they unveiled the first trailer for the game. Since then, there has been a notable hush from the studio.
This silence has fueled both excitement and concern among fans. Many are eager for the game’s arrival, while others fear further delays could push the release beyond 2025, marking an agonizing wait of over 12 years since the last major installment.
Insights into GTA 6 Development Challenges
During Take-Two’s initial earnings call of 2025, Zelnick acknowledged the possibility of a delay into 2026 but insisted that the team remains optimistic about the currently scheduled launch.
In a recent conversation with CNBC, Zelnick elaborated on the “complex” nature of the development hurdles. He stated, “What Rockstar Games seeks in all their projects is a commitment to creative perfection, which inherently extends the timeframe and complicates the process, but also ignites a sense of anticipation.”
