Fans of Grand Theft Auto 6 express frustration over Rockstar Games’ recent silence, especially after their award win at The Game Awards. As anticipation mounts, some players are beginning to lose their enthusiasm for the highly awaited sequel.
Rockstar first blew fans away over a year ago with the debut trailer for GTA 6, igniting a wave of excitement across the gaming community. Since then, however, the developers have gone quiet, leaving fans increasingly irritated by the lack of updates surrounding the new game.
In the midst of awards season, GTA 6 has been recognized as one of the most anticipated games for the upcoming year. Recently, Rockstar snagged an accolade for this anticipation during a rapid segment of awards presentation at The Game Awards, but fans were left wanting more.
Fans Expected a ‘Troll’ from Rockstar at The Game Awards
Following the awards, a disappointed fan tweeted, “I didn’t even want a trailer, I JUST WANTED A GUY FROM ROCKSTAR TO TROLL US AGAIN.” Another echoed the sentiment, lamenting, “They really dropped trailer one and just didn’t elaborate any further. Honestly starting to get a bit annoying.” The lack of engagement from Rockstar has clearly dampened spirits among loyal fans.
Interestingly, the only recent acknowledgment from Rockstar at an awards function occurred during the Golden Joystick Awards, where the game won for being the most-anticipated release of 2025. A representative from Rockstar teased that there are “mind-blowing things” currently in the works.

Despite the award recognition, speculation about a potential game delay has emerged, with some fans voicing concerns. One Reddit user noted, “I know R* is in a tier of their own, but honestly after the last few years of releases, I’m kind of over developers playing things close to the chest. I need more transparency and info before I get hyped anymore.” Another echoed that sentiment, emphasizing that “no updates in over a year is not a great sign.”
As it stands, GTA 6 is still on track for a Fall 2025 release. However, the prolonged silence has led some to view it as a “good thing.” Former Rockstar employee Obbe Vermeij suggests that such quietude might create a more thrilling experience upon the game’s launch.
Moreover, well-known journalist Jason Schreier, who has provided insights into the game’s development, has warned fans that he wouldn’t be “shocked” to see a delay. As time unfolds, enthusiasts are eager to see how Rockstar navigates this period of anticipation.
