New Rockstar Games job listings for GTA 6 testers have further fueled speculation regarding the potential delay of the highly anticipated title being pushed to 2026.
In early September, rumors emerged indicating that GTA 6 might be delayed by a full year from its original Fall 2025 release window, igniting concern within the gaming community.
As anxiety grew among GTA fans eager to return to Vice City, journalist Jason Schreier reported having spoken with six Rockstar employees, none of whom had any knowledge of a delay.
“Six staff told me they weren’t informed of a delay. For all I know, Rockstar’s executive team could have decided months ago to delay GTA VI without telling the company. But the lack of internal announcement suggests that the Twitter rumor was nonsense,” he elaborated.
I want to be very clear: Six staff told me they weren’t *informed* of a delay. For all I know, Rockstar’s executive team could have decided months ago to delay GTA VI without telling the company. But the lack of internal announcement suggests that the Twitter rumor was nonsense

Following the rumor’s circulation and increasing uncertainty about a delay, players discovered a series of job postings that could further dispute these claims.
A Reddit user highlighted that Rockstar Games is actively hiring for testing roles, with one position already appearing to be filled.
“Given the recent ‘delay’ rumor, I checked my LinkedIn feed and noticed they are openly hiring now for beta testers and QA testers for GTA VI. Hopefully, this provides some assurance that Fall 2025 remains intact,” the user commented.
Notably, the job listings specifically require candidates to have experience playing GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

One QA Tester listing focused on functionality has since been removed from Rockstar’s site, but it previously stated: “Ensuring product quality of Rockstar releases to an industry-leading standard. Creating and actioning comprehensive test plans ensuring everything is functioning correctly. Writing concise bug reports and providing all relevant supporting information such as screenshots, videos, and game logs.”
The other two full-time positions are aimed at German and Spanish localization at Rockstar Lincoln, further implying that GTA 6 development is moving into its final stages.
Rockstar had previously instructed its staff to resume office work to ensure the studio can “deliver the next Grand Theft Auto at the level of quality and polish we know it requires, along with a publishing roadmap that matches the scale and ambition of the game.”
Additionally, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, reaffirmed the Fall 2025 release window in August. CEO Strauss Zelnick also hinted that an exact launch date may be announced by the end of the year.
