TikTok’s story feature has gained immense popularity, but it can often be perplexing. If you’ve shared something on your Story that you wish to remove from your TikTok account, deleting it is an uncomplicated process that you can accomplish in just a few steps.
Introduced in 2022, TikTok’s stories feature is akin to those found on platforms such as Snapchat and Instagram, allowing users to post videos that are available for a limited time.
This feature is extremely well-received among TikTok users. You can create a story that lasts up to 15 seconds, and each published story appears as an in-feed post marked with the tag ‘story’.
All stories uploaded on the app within a 24-hour timeframe will be displayed as segments in the story post. Therefore, if you want to share something more than 15 seconds long, you’ll need to split it into smaller parts.
But what should you do if you decide to delete a story you have already published?
How to Delete a Story on TikTok: Step-by-Step Guide
Removing a story on TikTok can be somewhat confusing if it’s your first time. To delete a TikTok story post, simply follow these steps:
- Open TikTok .
- Tap on your profile icon located in the bottom right corner.
- Select your profile picture to access your story.
- Press the Share button at the bottom right.
- Choose the ‘Delete’ icon.
- Confirm by pressing ‘Delete’ again.
Open the TikTok App on Your Device
Begin by launching the TikTok app on your smartphone or tablet. If you’re not signed in, enter your username or email along with your password to log in.
Next, tap on the profile icon in the bottom right corner to navigate to your profile.
Open Your Story
Now, locate and open the story post you wish to delete. Simply tap your profile picture to view your Stories.
If you have several story posts, swipe right on the screen to browse through them until you find the specific one you want to remove.
Tap on the Share Box to Find the Delete Option
Find the share button to delete your TikTok Story post.
This may seem counterintuitive, but to access the delete option for your TikTok Story post, tap on the share button (the arrow icon) in the bottom right corner. This will present you with the option to delete your story.
Delete the Story Post
Tap ‘delete’ to remove your TikTok Story post.
A new row of sharing options will appear along the bottom of the screen, including the delete option on the far right. Press this button to proceed with deleting the post.
You will then have a final choice to either delete and re-edit your post, which is useful if you need to correct a mistake within the post, such as a typo.
However, if you want to completely remove the story post, select the red delete button at the bottom of the list.
Your story post is now deleted, and it will no longer be visible to anyone else. To verify, tap on your profile picture again to check that it’s no longer displayed.
If you have multiple story posts you wish to delete, repeat the process for each post, as unfortunately, there is no option to delete several story posts simultaneously.
