In the expansive world of Path of Exile 2, players often find themselves navigating through vast and semi-open landscapes, divided into segmented areas that can be tricky to explore. It’s common for players to become disoriented while pursuing objectives, resulting in frequent consultations of the map to verify their location relative to quest goals. While instinctively pressing “M”might seem like the logical choice to access the map, this key actually performs a different function in Path of Exile 2. Below, we’ll guide you on how to properly access your map and optimize your gameplay experience.
Accessing Your Map in Path of Exile 2
To open your map in Path of Exile 2, simply click the small exclamation point icon located near your quest tracker in the upper-right corner of your screen. This action reveals both your current map and quest list. Alternatively, you can press the U key to access the map directly. To see your active quests, make sure to click on the quest tab icon. Additionally, interacting with any waypoints will automatically launch the map, displaying fast travel options.
Interestingly, the M key is tied to the microtransaction shop in Path of Exile 2, a departure from common gaming conventions where “M”typically opens the map. If you prefer a different key for this function, you can customize your keybindings. Simply navigate to the main menu, select options, and find the Input tab. From there, scroll to “World Screen”and assign your preferred key to open the map.
Moreover, once you unlock the mapping feature in-game, it will introduce you to an atlas, which serves a different purpose than the world map.
Tracking Quests in Path of Exile 2
With your map open, all your quests—including those you’ve completed—will be displayed. To track a specific quest, click on it, and a highlighted path will guide you to your destination on the map. If the quest tab is obstructing your view, you can minimize it by clicking the arrow in the upper-right corner, allowing you to focus on the full map.
Customizing the Minimap in Path of Exile 2
The minimap is crucial for effective navigation. To refine your minimap settings, head to the main menu, select options, and navigate to the Interface tab. There, you can find the map section to personalize your minimap’s appearance.
For optimal visibility, consider adjusting the landscape and map transparency. Personally, I set the Landscape Transparency to 0 while maximizing Map Transparency. This adjustment enhances clarity, allowing you to discern paths and areas more effectively without cluttering your screen. Additionally, pressing Tab will reposition the minimap to the center of your screen, which can be particularly useful in navigating complex environments, such as when undertaking Trials to advance your class.
Ultimately, these settings are subjective, and it is up to each player to customize their map experience as they see fit.
