While you’re free to visit Hyrule Ranch and choose any horse, you must meet these two requirements to unlock Zelda’s horse:

  1. Defeat Ganondorf in Hyrule Castle.
  2. Complete the “Impa’s Gift” side quest.

After defeating Ganondorf for the second time, talk to Impa in Hyrule Castle to begin the “Impa’s Gift” side quest. This quest requires you to enter the Stilled Carrot Patch rift, which is found to the northwest of Hyrule Castle.

Once you locate the rift, you’ll learn that Zelda’s horse has been trapped, and you need to rescue Tri’s friends to free her. After you liberate Tri’s companions, the white mare will be set free. Utilize Zelda’s Bind ability to pull a carrot from the ground, which will summon the mare to your side.
