The enchanting alien world in Lightyear Frontier is teeming with captivating discoveries, including the enigmatic Abandoned Eggs that can be hatched into charming creatures. If you’re curious about how to locate and hatch these eggs, this guide will provide you with all the essential information.
How to Find Eggs in Lightyear Frontier
To discover Abandoned Eggs in Lightyear Frontier, it’s crucial to know their specific locations on the expansive and vibrant map, along with the conditions required for their spawning.
Certain parts of the map, such as the Meadows, Pine Heights, and Edge Cliffs, have been confirmed to lack any eggs at all. In contrast, other areas can contain eggs, provided that at least one is fully restored (i.e., cleared of Noxious Weeds and Slimes). After restoration, Abandoned Eggs can spawn in random locations within that area. Naturally, restoring more areas increases your chances of finding additional eggs.
The eggs you collect will contain various native species from the planet. If you are looking for a specific species egg, be sure to search in the area where it typically resides. You won’t have to worry about inventory space since each egg only weighs a light 0.3.
However, it’s essential to note that eggs cannot be sold to Lola, as you will not earn any profit for them.
How to Hatch Eggs in Lightyear Frontier
To hatch any eggs you have found, you must first meet Diane and establish her Outpost on your farm. Diane manages an animal sanctuary on her home planet and is eager to assist you in hatching the eggs you have collected, expanding your farm with new creatures.
After you construct her Outpost, talk to Diane to initiate her questline. In addition to building a fence (which requires Hardwood) around her Outpost, she will ask you to create an Egg Incubator, for which she will provide the blueprint free of charge. To find the Egg Incubator, open your Build Menu and navigate to the ‘Crafting Constructs’ tab.
To craft an Egg Incubator, you will need the following materials:
- 4 x Copper Wire
- Crafted via an Assembler using Copper Ore (found in Edge Cliffs area)
- 2 x Aluminum Electronics
- Crafted via an Assembler using Aluminum Rods (found in Pine Heights area) and Copper Wire
- 3 x Aluminum Frame
- Crafted via an Assembler using Aluminum Rods (found in Pine Heights area)
Once you have created your first Egg Incubator, you can place any eggs you’ve found inside it. Eggs take 1 day to incubate fully. When they are ready to hatch, they will glow brightly, allowing you to press the appropriate button to ‘Hatch Egg’.
You will be prompted to name your new creature (up to 20 characters), after which it will appear nearby and roam the perimeter of your farm until you build a proper enclosure for it.
The Egg Incubator also allows you to change its equipped Lens, providing various advantages during the incubation process, including:
- Blue Lens – 10% chance to hatch two animals from one egg
- Red Lens – 25% chance of hatching a larger animal
- Clear Lens – 25% chance of hatching a smaller animal
Keep in mind, different colored lenses can be crafted using a Furnace (to create the glass) and then an Assembler (to produce the lens itself).
