To gain access to Mercenaries, players must progress through the Vessel of Hatred campaign. This expansion is a purchasable upgrade, available in Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions; however, the Standard edition suffices for campaign access.

Players can dive straight into the Vessel of Hatred campaign, which will lead them to unlock the first Mercenary shortly. Following the storyline will take them into the new Nahantu region, where they will encounter Raheir and the Mercenary Den.

There are four Mercenaries to be unlocked within the Vessel of Hatred DLC, each available through participating in the main campaign missions. The first Mercenary, Raheir, becomes accessible when he guides you to the Mercenary Den. This robust ally also acts as the location’s Blacksmith.

Following Raheir, players can enlist Aldkin after completing the A Nameless Mystery quest. Aldkin brings magical protection to players and serves as the Den’s Occultist upon being unlocked.

The third Mercenary is Varyana, adept with either dual axes or a massive mace, who can be unlocked after finishing the Slayer’s Retribution quest.

Finally, the last Mercenary introduced in the Vessel of Hatred expansion is Subo, a Rogue-like character skilled in using traps and a crossbow for ranged attacks. Completing the A Feather on the Scale quest grants access to him as an ally in the Den.
