Finding the Taken Portal

Your adventure begins by entering The Nether: Explore activity where the first task is to search for a Taken Portal. The location of the portal is dynamic, appearing randomly in the patrol zones of the Dreadnought.

Once you find the Taken Portal, jump in to access a hidden room. Activate the lone pressure plate, then observe the Hive Rune in front of you to receive instructions. Follow these directions closely to summon the item required to obtain the Taken Osseous Fragment. This Hive Rune interaction serves as a tutorial that you will encounter throughout the quest.

Initiating The Taken Path Quest

After obtaining your first fragment, teleport to The Last City and navigate to Eris’ apartment. Interact with the Shaping Slab (the seasonal vendor) to formally begin The Taken Path exotic quest.

The initial step involves acquiring and equipping the Scotopic Rune upgrade. This upgrade comes at the cost of 150 Sigil Shards, which can be collected by looting chests found in The Nether.

Delving into Lost Sectors

Once you have equipped the Scotopic Rune, your next task is to explore specific lost sectors. Start by heading to The Moon, specifically to the K1 Revelation lost sector located in Sorrow’s Harbor.

As you navigate through this lost sector, you will find another pressure plate similar to the previous one. Follow the Hive Rune’s instructions to spawn and defeat the Taken adversaries that appear, allowing you to collect the second fragment.

Repeat this process in the Veles Labyrinth lost sector within the Forgotten Shore of the Cosmodrome, where the pressure plate is hidden within a maze-like opening.

The Three Curse Quests

Upon returning to the Shaping Slab after acquiring the fragments, you will receive three fresh quests: Curse of Endurance, Curse of Revenge, and Curse of Urgency.

Each quest entails traveling to designated activities on The Moon, obtaining a Taken relic, utilizing the relic against foes, and depositing it to obliterate the relic. By following the in-game markers, these steps should be manageable.

After completing these quests, prepare to find three Hive statues within The Nether—each is located in different patrol areas of the Dreadnaught. Interact with each statue, eliminate the guardians that emerge, and claim their rewards as you did previously.

Completing this process activates the Exotic mission “Derealize, ” leading you to the final challenge of unlocking the Barrow-Dyad.

Completing the Exotic Mission “Derealize”

The finishing touches have been laid, and it’s time for the final mission: “Derealize, ” which can be launched from The Last City.

While it may appear intimidating, this mission is comparatively straightforward and one of the more manageable Exotic missions released by Bungie in recent times. During our testing, we successfully completed it solo without dying.

The mission consists largely of a series of boss encounters as you traverse The Dreadnaught. Here, you will face progressively challenging enemies, including Tormentors and Subjagators. Because the areas are densely populated with adds, it’s advisable to adopt a well-balanced loadout for add-clear and boss damage.

Your first major encounter is against Vrhiisk, Seeker of Power. To defeat him, you need to deal damage to trigger the next phase, eliminate a wave of Blight Sentinels, and finish off the Taken Conduits. Accept the curse they drop, then proceed to achieve final blows to charge it before depositing it in the nearby container. Repeat this sequence until you defeat Vrhiisk.

Afterwards, a Hive Rune puzzle will emerge. Follow the graphical prompts related to the symbols displayed above. If the symbols do not match, refrain from moving and let the “No Escape”timer run out. Continue this pattern until all symbols disappear.

This process will shuffle you into a platforming challenge. Leverage the central platforms and openings to navigate this area, ensuring to look upwards for vertical pathways.

Continue to employ your parkour skills through various segments, including one that necessitates destroying three crystals to clear your path. This area is designed to be intuitive, so progression should feel fluid.

Once you’ve completed the platforming challenge and utilized a Rally Banner, you’ll arrive at the final step—simply proceed, then interact with the Exotic SMG resting on the nearby table to acquire it along with its crafting pattern. Congratulations on unlocking the Barrow-Dyad!

While you can exit immediately after, we recommend defeating the final boss, Xir-Kuur, to simplify future endeavors. This climactic encounter features two mirror bosses that switch places during the fight. Defeating them is straightforward, but at the end, you’ll have to secure the Hive Plate where the Rally Banner was originally placed to complete the mission and access the loot chest.

With your newfound weaponry and strategies, you are well-equipped to tackle all that Destiny 2 has in store!
