Soul Coins, crafted from infernal iron, hold immense value and serve as a coveted currency and source of power for devils and their allies in the Nine Hells. These rare coins are formed through the binding of mortal souls.

This special attribute of Soul Coins allows Karlach, who has spent time in Avernus, to use them as a power-up, establishing a distinctive connection between the two.

Initially introduced as part of an optional early side quest, it is crucial to collect Soul Coins as soon as you become aware of them. These valuable items can greatly aid you in the later levels of the game.

What Are the Uses of Soul Coins in BG3?

Karlach’s special ability, Infernal Fury, can be activated by consuming Soul Coins. This ability adds 1d4 Fire damage to her weapon and unarmed attacks. It should be noted that this condition can only be triggered while she is raging or if her HP drops below 25%.

Please note that Soul Coins will be less valuable if you respec the Barbarian into a different class, as they are directly tied to her Rage mechanic. Furthermore, they will not be of any use if you choose to make her a spellcaster. It is important to mention that, due to story-related reasons, these coins cannot be utilized by any other characters, regardless if they are Barbarians.

The Infernal Fury condition is bestowed upon consuming a Soul Coin and remains until the next long rest. This makes Soul Coins especially valuable in significant fights where any additional damage can be beneficial.

Remember that the fixed amount of Souls Coins in the game limits your usage of Infernal Fury, even if you manage to collect them all. Therefore, use them wisely.
