In every competitive multiplayer game, including Valorant, encountering toxic players is inevitable. Until recently, players had no permanent way to block such individuals, except for muting them during the match.
However, with the introduction of the 9.06 patch, Valorant now allows players to block toxic players permanently, preventing them from messaging or harassing you.

What Does Blocking Do in Valorant?
When you block a player in Valorant, they cannot message you via text chat, communicate through voice chat, or send party invites and friend requests.
Blocking a player means they can never communicate with you again unless you decide to unblock them. There are no restrictions on the number of players you can block.
How to Block Players in Valorant
The method for blocking players in Valorant is straightforward. Follow these steps to block a player:
- Navigate to your career page and click on the match where the player was present.
- Access the scoreboard.
- Right-click on the player’s name and select “Block.”
- Press “Confirm.”
Locate the Match They’re In
Visit the careers page on the main screen to view all your recent games and find the match where the player was present.
View Their Profile
After selecting the match, you will be directed to the match summary page. Check the scoreboard to find the player’s profile.
Click to Block
Upon locating their profile, simply right-click their name and choose ‘Block Player.’
Press Confirm
After clicking block, you must confirm your decision to sever all communication with the player.
Is There a Way to Avoid Players in Valorant?
Currently, there is no option to avoid players in Valorant.
Blocking a player does not guarantee that they won’t appear in your games; you might still find yourself teamed up with the same player despite blocking them.
If you’re experiencing harassment or stream-sniping, blocking is your only option to prevent communication from that player.
Players familiar with Overwatch 2 may know the “avoid”system, which allows them to choose not to queue against specific players. In Overwatch 2, players can avoid up to 15 players, permanently pinning three of them. This system has mechanisms to ensure that avoided players do not end up on your team.
As of now, Overwatch 2 remains the only competitive game offering this feature, while Valorant currently lacks such a system.
Riot Games has not announced any plans to implement an avoid feature in any of their titles.
