The Legendary Heroes Zacian and Zamazenta are among the top fighters in Pokémon Go. Discover how to obtain the Galar Legendaries in Niantic’s game and if they can be Shiny.
Despite being part of Pokémon Go for some time, Zacian and Zamazenta are among the hardest Legendaries to capture, with limited appearances since their initial launch.
Dedicated trainers managed to catch both during the recent Go All Out event, which celebrated the start of the Max Out season. Currently, Zacian is set for another special appearance in the Legendary Heroes event, marking the debut of its Shiny version.
How to get Zacian and Zamazenta in Pokémon Go
As Legendaries, there’s only one way to obtain Zacian and Zamazenta in the game. You must defeat them in a 5-Star Raid battle and then try to catch them using the limited Premier Balls provided at the conclusion of the encounter.
The presence of Zacian or Zamazenta as Raid Bosses is determined by Raid Rotations or special events. During the Legendary Heroes event, Zacian will be available from September 26, 2024, until October 1, 2024, giving players ample opportunity to catch the Pokémon Sword mascot.
Can Zacian and Zamazenta be Shiny?
While Shiny Zamazenta is currently unavailable, Shiny Zacian will be introduced during the mentioned Legendary Heroes event.
The variations between regular and Shiny Zacian are subtle, primarily featuring a lighter body fur and the pink accents shifting to steel blue.
Even though they have both been included in the game since the Ultra Unlock Part 3: Sword and Shield event in 2021, only Zacian is receiving its Shiny variant so far, as the event makes no mention of Zamazenta. However, with the Max Out season highlighting their region, it could be an ideal time to introduce Shiny Zamazenta to Pokémon Go.
How to get Zacian Crowned Sword and Zamazenta Crowned Shield in Pokémon Go
Both Fairy-type Zacian and Fighting-type Zamazenta boast two forms: their standard forms referred to as ‘Hero of Many Battles’ and their alternate forms ‘Crowned Sword’ and ‘Crowned Shield’, respectively.
As with their Shiny versions, these special forms that grant both Legendaries additional Steel typing have not yet been introduced in the game.
It is likely that with the focus on the Galar region during the Max Out season, we may eventually see their alternate forms or at least their Shiny variations. Should that occur, we will ensure this guide is updated promptly.
