The Metallica crossover has made its way to Fortnite, including a hidden mission to locate a hidden Cliff Burton reference. Here is where to discover the tribute to the band’s previous bassist and complete the quest.
Similar to Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish, the Fortnite 30.10 update included a collaboration with legendary heavy metal band Metallica in Festival mode. However, the iconic group has also been incorporated into the main BR mode through a series of exclusive Quests, including a hidden Easter egg that players can uncover.
This is the location of the Cliff Burton Metallica Easter egg in Fortnite.
Metallica’s Cliff Burton Easter Egg Location in Fortnite
The location of the Cliff Burton Easter egg in Fortnite is in the underground section of the recently added Metallica Loot Island. As you make your way into the cave, you’ll come across a gray wall with the phrase “Cliff ‘Em All” written on it.
Upon arrival on the island, continue along the path until you come to an opening with a sign that reads “Gutbombs Tasteland”hanging above it.
There is also a smaller entrance on the opposite side of the island.
Upon entering, the memorial will be located on your left, situated behind a sofa and surrounded by amps. Completing the secret “visit memorial”Quest will automatically reward you with 10,000 XP, even though it is not listed in the objective menu.
Despite the apparent simplicity of the task, reaching the memorial may prove to be challenging, as Loot Island can only be accessed once the third circle has closed. The map will clearly indicate its location for all to see, and it will appear shortly thereafter.
The island has undergone a Metallica-themed transformation since the release of v30.10, featuring holograms of Hetfield and his bandmates performing their iconic songs. Despite the changes, the island still offers high-quality loot for those who can successfully claim the capture point, so expect to encounter strong competition.
Fortnite Cliff Burton Metallica Easter Egg Explained
This reference to Cliff Burton in Fortnite serves as a tribute to the original bassist of Metallica. He was a member of the band for their first three albums, but unfortunately passed away in a bus accident in Sweden during their Master of Puppets tour in 1986.
The term “Cliff ‘Em All”is a nod to Metallica’s second album, Kill ‘Em All, which featured Burton. It is also the name of a compilation album released after his passing, honoring his role as the band’s bassist since 1982.
Additionally, the hands adorned with rings are derived from a renowned image of Cliff Burton, which holds significance among fans of the band.
The 30.10 update also added the Ride the Lightning guitar Mythic, which was inspired by Metallica, and the Tow Hook Cannon to counter the dominance of vehicles in gameplay.
