Guide to Creating and Passing Heirlooms in The Sims 4 Life & Death Expansion Pack

To ensure your Sim can create and pass down a treasured Heirloom in The Sims 4 Life & Death expansion pack, follow these steps. This is particularly important if you wish for them to leave a meaningful item to another character.

Unless you rely on cheats to keep your Sim youthful or concoct potions for immortality, they will eventually face the end of their life.

Previously, this would typically result in their permanent departure from the game. Thanks to the innovative Heirloom feature included in The Sims 4 Life & Death pack, Sims can now leave behind a memorable token for their dear ones.

Here’s a comprehensive guide on how your Sim can craft Heirlooms and bequeath them to other Sims, making your generational gameplay feel much more authentic.

Creating a Heirloom in The Sims 4 Life & Death Expansion Pack

To designate an item as a Heirloom, simply choose the object and select the “Make Heirloom” option. This could be anything from their beloved book or a personal diary to a cherished lamp, mirror, or other small keepsakes; the choice is yours. However, take note of a few limitations.

Initially, the object must be located on your lot; items owned by other Sims in different homes cannot be designated as Heirlooms. Also, not all items qualify; certain objects like fridges, beds, and rugs are excluded from being Heirlooms.

In essence, any object that triggers the Heirloom option upon selection is eligible for your Sim to pass down.

Transferring a Heirloom to another Sim

After designating an object as your Sim’s Heirloom, you must click on it again to access the Heirloom menu, which presents the Pass On interaction. This enables you to select which Sim will receive the Heirloom once your Sim’s life ends.

Heirloom transfers are not limited to family members within the game.

Keep in mind that you can choose anyone who has a close relationship with your Sim for the transfer. They don’t have to be relatives or part of the same household.

After selecting a recipient for the Heirloom, you can also increase its value. Over time, this will enhance the item’s worth, potentially benefiting the new owner if they decide to sell it later on.

Moreover, you have the option to engrave a personalized message on the item, adding an emotional touch. All Heirlooms will be documented in your Sim’s will, which you can modify or refresh whenever necessary.

Now that you’re equipped with the knowledge of how to craft and transfer Heirlooms in The Sims 4, consider discovering ways for your Sim to be reborn or become a playable ghost to add some exciting drama.
