Guide to Creating Smart Plating in Satisfactory for Space Elevator Construction

Your primary objective in Satisfactory is to complete the Space Elevator, which requires understanding how to produce Smart Plating.

Similar to Copper Sheets or Steel Pipes, the most efficient way to manufacture items in this open-world factory simulation is through a well-organized farm. Since Smart Plating cannot be crafted manually, it’s essential to learn the proper crafting methods.

You’ll need over 7,000 Smart Plating to finish constructing your Space Elevator in Satisfactory, so we will guide you on obtaining this recipe, setting up an efficient farm, and exploring its other applications.

Once you acquire the recipe, you’ll create Smart Plating using one Reinforced Iron Plate and one Rotor in an Assembler, producing one unit every two minutes.

Alternatively, you can create a different version of Smart Plating with the same ingredients, but with the addition of three Plastic, using a Manufacturer. This version can produce two units every five minutes.

Smart Plating can only be manufactured using machinery, and the setup can be more complex than anticipated. Here are the required components:

  • x1 Miner Mk. 1 gathering Iron Ore from a Pure Iron Node
  • x1 Conveyor Splitter to divide into two Smelters
  • x2 Smelters converting Iron Ore into Iron Ingots
  • x1 Constructor transforming Iron Ingots into Iron Plates
  • x1 Constructor converting Iron Ingots into Iron Rods
  • x1 Conveyor Splitter to divide Iron Rods into two Constructors and one Assembler
  • x2 Constructors turning Iron Rods into Screws
  • x1 Assembler producing Rotors
  • x1 Assembler crafting Reinforced Iron Plates
  • x1 Assembler manufacturing Smart Plating
  • x1 Storage Container for storing Smart Plating

The configuration may seem chaotic, but it’s an effective setup for generating Smart Plating. Start with two Smelters converting ore into Iron Ingots. Connect the right Smelter to a Constructor to produce Iron Plates.

On the left, connect the left Smelter to a Constructor to create Iron Rods. Place a Conveyor Splitter in front of that, connecting the left and right outputs to Constructors making Screws.

Next, connect the Screw and Iron Plate Constructors into an Assembler for Reinforced Iron Plates on the right side. On the left, attach the middle output to another Assembler, alongside the left Screw Constructor for producing Rotors.

Finally, add one more Assembler to manufacture Smart Plating and position a Storage Container at the end to securely hold the finished product.

All Uses for Smart Plating

Smart Plating is mainly utilized for constructing the Space Elevator, but it also has one additional use:
