The Darkening of Tristram event is set to kick off in early January 2025, allowing players to dive into a nostalgic experience filled with legendary foes and wicked challenges as they ring in the New Year.

This exciting event not only features the iconic Cathedral anniversary dungeon but also offers players the chance to earn sought-after rewards, including the new portrait cosmetics. Here’s how you can unlock these captivating portraits.

Unlocking the Classic Angel Portrait

The journey to obtain the Classic Angel portrait is no simple task—it demands skill and persistence. To unlock it, players must gather a total of seven Cultist chapters. These chapters are dropped by the elusive Temporal Priests, who make sporadic appearances at Waypoint locations within Adventure Mode.

These priests are bedecked in gray garments, and you can find them in various areas. However, be advised that they might drop duplicate pages, so it’s wise to defeat multiple priests to collect the necessary chapters.

Act Waypoint Locations
I Weeping Hollow, Festering Woods, Caverns of Araneae, Cathedral (Levels 1 – 4), Halls of Agony (Levels 1 – 3), Fields of Misery
II Dahlgur Oasis, Desolate Sands
III Keep Depths (Levels 1 – 3), Stonefort, Rakkis Crossing, Arreat Crater (Levels 1 & 2), Tower of the Damned (Level 1), The Core of Arreat, Ruins of Sescheron
IV Gardens of Hope (Levels 1 – 3), Silver Spire (Levels 1 & 2)
V Westmarch Commons, Westmarch Heights, Paths of the Drowned, Greyhollow Island, Battlefields of Eternity

Unlocking the Classic Demon Portrait

In contrast to the quest for the Angel portrait, obtaining the Classic Demon portrait is more straightforward. To earn this cosmetic, players will need to slay 40 Unique Monsters, which include the four significant bosses in the Anniversary Dungeon.

Below is the list of Unique Monsters you’ll need to hunt down, including their levels within the dungeon. Keep in mind that these monsters spawn randomly, meaning you may need to repeat the dungeon run several times—approximately six to seven—to achieve all forty kills.
