The Nornir Chest quest is an extensive endeavor filled with puzzles that require activating three rune torches. In the vicinity, the Tyr’s Shield adds an interesting layer to the quest dynamics.
By exercising patience and timing, players can solve the challenges laid out to claim the treasures from the Nornir Chest found in the Lost Treasury area.
1. Locating the Lost Treasury: Nornir Chest in God of War: Ragnarok
To acquire the Lost Treasury Nornir Chest:
- Travel east of the Kol Raider Camp adjacent to Tyr’s Temple.
- Utilize your shield to unearth a gate by rolling it to reveal a hidden opening.
- Employ the Blades of Chaos to pull the shield to the left, unveiling the C-Rune torch, which you will then ignite using Hex Bubbles.
- Reposition the shield, smash the black pot, and retrieve the contents of the Red Coffin.
- Ignite the R-Rune using Hex Bubbles.
- Adjust the shield, freeze the gears with your Axe and Hex Bubbles to unlock the gate, after which you can dash inside.
- Remove the blockages and illuminate the N-Rune torch with Hex Bubbles to access the Nornir Chest.
2. Igniting the C-Torch
Upon reaching the quest’s destination (the Kol Raider Camp near Tyr’s Temple), you will notice a massive shield against the icy backdrop.
It’s advisable to maneuver it to the side (indications will be present). Instantly, you’ll gain access to the gate of a nearby structure. Use the Blades of Chaos to latch onto the grappling point on the right side of the shield and drag it leftwards.
This action will unveil the C-Rune torch: Create a Hex Bubble chain using Sigil Arrows and set it off with a Blazing Surge (L2+R2).
Next, scale the right portion of the ruins, pass through the entrance, eliminate Wisps with Hex methods, and drop off the side of the building.
Search for the Red Coffin, which contains 1 Petrified Bone and a handful of Hacksilver. Once you collect the treasures, return to the shield’s left section and shift it leftward. This will enable you to adjust the positioning of the stone column.
3. Igniting the R-Torch
Ascend the left flank of the shield to return to the building’s left side. Notice the flame for the R Rune positioned above and to the right. Create another Hex Bubble chain that can be ignited with a Blazing Surge from the Blades of Chaos.
Enter through the opened doorway and locate the stone column you had displaced earlier. Pull it to the left so it extends over the rooftop edge.
This will stop the shield from rolling too far away. Now, you can collect the Hacksilver Chest, and then descend from the roof to solid ground.
4. Igniting the N-Torch
Shift and drag the shield to the right into position, then operate the wheel crank to unseal the gate.
Your next objective is to freeze the gears on both left and right sides of the shield to keep the gate open. This can be achieved using a Hex Bubble.
Launch a Sigil Arrow at one of the gears, quickly throw your Axe at it, recall the Axe, and throw it into the other gear where it will stay put. Act swiftly, as you have only a brief window to dash inside.
Once you’re through, you will find the N Rune’s flame in the far corner to your right, placed above the ruins. It’s too distant for the blades to reach. To address this, locate the target situated on the right side of the gate and destroy it.
This action enables you to form a Hex Bubbles chain that can easily ignite the torch! Once completed, exit and glance to your left, where the Nornir Chest awaits, ready to be opened!
