Located in the southeastern corner of the map in Throne and Liberty, Saurodoma Island is a hidden gem that players will eventually want to explore. While accessing this secluded island initially isn’t necessary, you may find yourself seeking the way to unlock its waypoint later in the game. This guide is designed to simplify your journey toward that goal.
Unlocking the Waypoint on Saurodoma Island
Though swimming can get you to Saurodoma Island, the actual Waypoint is perched atop a very high pedestal, necessitating a means of aerial navigation. The most efficient way to reach those heights in Throne of Liberty is by traveling on the back of the magnificent Gigantrite.
Heading to Saurodoma Island repeatedly by swimming can be quite tedious. Therefore, it’s in your best interest to unlock this elevated Waypoint as quickly as you can.
How to Ride the Gigantrite
Gigantrite serves as your aerial transport to Saurodoma Island, and fortunately, boarding it is a straightforward process. The only challenge lies in waiting for this impressive flying creature to appear.
This incredible beast makes its rounds every three hours throughout the expansive world of Throne and Liberty. Keep in mind that its exact timing is contingent on whether your in-game clock is set to local or universal time—a setting that can be easily adjusted.
To determine the Gigantrite’s expected arrival, examine the map’s Events tab. There, you can select Hourly Events and view the designated time slots where the Gigantrite icon will appear every three hours.
How to Approach Gigantrite
With the timing established, the next step is locating Gigantrite. This mythical creature will not touch down for players to board; hence, you’ll need to leap into the air from a significant height. Ensure you have unlocked the gliding mount feature to facilitate this task.
While there are several towers from which you can launch yourself, the Starlight Observatory Tower is the most dependable option. Gigantrite does not follow a fixed route upon spawning, meaning it may not always pass the tower you choose to wait at. However, it consistently follows its path near the Starlight Observatory.
This giant flying whale also circles the tower a few times, giving you multiple opportunities to catch a ride. If you miss the first chance, quickly head back up using the grapple hooks to try for another opportunity.
Traveling to Saurodoma Island
Once you’ve successfully hitched a ride on Gigantrite, sit back and enjoy the flight toward Saurodoma Island. As you near your destination, you will notice the glowing purple hue of the Waypoint atop a distinct mushroom-shaped pedestal. When Gigantrite gets close enough, time your jump perfectly to land by the Waypoint.
Keep in mind that you must unlock Saurodoma Island to land safely at the Waypoint. If you haven’t completed this prerequisite, you’ll encounter a force field preventing your descent. The island becomes available after you complete the Ruler of Lycan quest, which is situated in the fourth Milestone of the game known as the Frenzy of Wraiths.
Milestones are essential, time-sensitive events linked to your server. If you haven’t reached the required milestone yet, you may need to hold off a bit longer before making your way to Saurodoma Island. You can always check your current milestone progress and the timing of upcoming events in the Milestone tab located in the Main Menu.
