Furthermore, once these cards reach a rating of 83 OVR, MUT players can unlock Team Chemistry and Secondary Position slots. However, players must upgrade at least one card to this level and beyond in order to access these features.

How to Unlock Team Captains
The four MUT Captains in Madden 25 Ultimate Team are as follows:
- CB Troy Vincent
- C Jeff Saturday
- TE Jason Witten
- MLB Manti Te’o
- HB Mike Tolbert
The four Captains, Vincent, Saturday, Witten, Te’o, and Tolbert, can be unlocked by MUT players through the Captains Field Pass at different levels. Vincent is unlocked at Level 2, Saturday at Level 4, Witten at Level 6, Te’o at Level 8, and Tolbert at Level 10.
In order to advance in the Captain Field Pass, what steps must be taken? These steps include completing Objectives based on statistics and wins, as well as achieving specific tasks with at least one Team Captain on the roster. As of August 20, here is an overview of the Objectives that are currently available:
- Win 10 games (1,500 XP)
- Get 10 sacks (1,500 XP)
- Get six interceptions (1,500 XP)
- Score 150 points (1,500 XP)
- Score 10 field goals (1,500 XP)
- Force 10 fumbles (1,500 XP)
- Get Team Tackles with a Team Captain in the lineup in any game mode (does not mean accomplish feat with a specific Captain)
- Get 150 Team Tackles (1,500 XP)
- Get 300 Team Tackles (1,500 XP)
- Record Rushing Yards with a Team Captain in the lineup in any game mode
- Rush for 1,500 Yards (1,500 XP)
- Rush for 3,000 Yards (1,500 XP)
- Record Passing Yards with a Team Captain in the lineup in any game mode
- Pass for 2,000 Yards (1,500 XP)
- Pass for 4,000 Yards (1,500 XP)
It should be noted that more tiers and Objectives will be introduced as the season progresses.
How to Upgrade Captains
In Madden 25, MUT Captains can be enhanced by using Captain Upgrade Tokens. These tokens, similar to the cards, are acquired through the Captains Pass.
At the beginning, every Captain has a rating of 78 OVR. By August 2024, it will take five Tokens to completely upgrade a Captain’s rating to 83 OVR. However, it should be noted that the overall limit will gradually increase in the future.
A total of seven Captain Tokens were released during launch.
Which one is the best?
The top-rated Captain cards, according to our perspective, are Jeff Saturday and Troy Vincent.
In MUT, it can be difficult to find quality cornerbacks who possess both speed and strong defensive skills to effectively cover receivers. However, Vincent’s 83 OVR rating offers a respectable 81 Speed and 80 Man Coverage, making him a valuable addition to any team.
On the other hand, Saturday would be an ideal choice to strengthen the offensive line. With an overall rating of 83, he boasts 81 Strength, 83 Awareness, and 83 Pass Block. A reliable and solid offensive line is crucial for any team, and Saturday would greatly contribute in that aspect.
