In the Dark Horizon DLC for Remnant 2, players will encounter various items that can be easily overlooked, particularly those related to completing quests in alternate ways. Choosing a different route may lead to missing out on certain rewards, and the Crop Sample is among these elusive items. This guide will provide a detailed approach on how to secure the Crop Sample and the various ways to utilize it.
How to Obtain the Crop Sample Quest Item in Remnant 2
To acquire the Crop Sample, make your way to the Detritus Foundry. As you approach the conclusion of this dungeon, just prior to confronting the N’Erudian Reaper boss, you’ll discover a section where the Crop Sample can be obtained, as well as two of the four possible applications for it.
While navigating through the Detritus Foundry, continue until you reach the World Stone. Nearby, you’ll spot a large circular area close to the dungeon’s entrance—that’s where the Crop Sample awaits.
How to Utilize the Crop Sample Item in Remnant 2
After acquiring the Crop Sample, descend to the lower level beneath the circular area, where two statues overlook the earth. To reach this location, use the elevator situated on your current floor; it links the two tiers.
Inside this room, you’ll encounter two statues—one blue and the other red. You can choose to plant the Crop Sample in front of either statue.
In the Dark Horizon DLC for Remnant 2, there are four distinct applications for the Crop Sample. Each selection yields different rewards, but after conducting tests and saving progress, we determined that players can ultimately retain only one reward.
Should you wish to explore alternative rewards, you have the option to reroll N’Erud and gather another Crop Sample. Although this method may be lengthy, it remains a feasible choice.
1. Plant at the Blue Statue
By planting the Crop Sample at the Blue Statue in the previously mentioned area, you will be rewarded with the Gossamer Heart relic.
However, you won’t receive your reward immediately. You may need to revisit this site after advancing in the game, which could involve finishing the dungeon, visiting Ward 13, or defeating a boss. After making some progress, return to collect your reward.
Alternatively, you can reset this area by interacting with a nearby World Stone and choosing the nearest spawn point.
2. Plant at the Red Statue
Planting the Crop Sample at the Red Statue requires a bit more effort to yield a reward. Unlike the Blue Statue, where you may simply return or respawn to claim your reward, placing the Crop Sample at the Red Statue initiates a hidden boss encounter.
When you revisit the room after planting the Crop Sample, the secret boss known as the Inverted Shambler will materialize. Approaching the Red Statue will cause the Inverted Shambler to spawn.
Upon conquering the Inverted Shambler, you will earn the Repercussion Mutator as your reward in Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon DLC.
3. Offer to the Cook at Ward 13
Apart from the options involving the Red and Blue statues, there’s a third method to utilize the Crop Sample. Return to Ward 13 and hand the item over to Duane the cook, who is stationed at his stall near the World Stone.
Doing so will grant you a new consumable item known as the Numbing Agent, which enhances the amount of damage you can withstand before it affects your gray health. However, this reward won’t be available immediately; it’s advisable to progress further in the DLC and return to Duane later to receive it.
4. Plant in the Soil at Ward 13
While the previous three options provide remarkable rewards, planting in the soil at Ward 13 using the Crop Sample offers yet another way to receive a unique benefit from this item. You can plant it at the back of the garden at Ward 13.
However, this planting location may not be accessible in your gameplay and is dependent on completing several tasks related to the DLC.
To reveal the planting area at Ward 13, you must finish an encounter linked to the Yaesha DLC within the Infested Abyss. In this event, you’ll interact with the Clawbone or Root NPC, who will present you with two choices. Choosing either option will result in unique rewards.
- If you accept, you’ll gain the Profane Soul Stone amulet. You can subsequently take it to the Keeper in the Labyrinth for purification, transforming it into the Soul Stone amulet.
- If you decline or opt not to purify the amulet, returning it to the Root will yield the Profane Heart relic as a reward.
After finishing this series of tasks, you should notice Root growth emerging at the back of your garden in Ward 13. This is the location where you can plant the Crop Sample.
This concludes the process for obtaining and utilizing the Crop Sample in Remnant 2.
