Among the various alchemy concoctions in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, the Fever Tonic emerges as a particularly significant brew. While the protagonist, Henry, does not personally experience fever, this potion becomes crucial during an important narrative quest.
Usage of Fever Tonic in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

In the main quest titled For Whom the Bell Tolls, players encounter the need for a Fever Tonic for the first time. This quest focuses on the urgency to save Hans Capon from execution, which can only be prevented by verifying his noble lineage through Captain Thomas of Trosky. Unfortunately, Thomas is ill, and his sister lacks the means to provide him with the necessary medicine.
This is where Henry becomes instrumental. He volunteers to seek medical assistance, which ultimately leads to the requirement of crafting a Fever Tonic.
Gathering Ingredients for the Fever Tonic

To successfully brew the Fever Tonic, players must collect the following three key ingredients:
- Feverfew
- Elderberry Leaves
- Ginger
While these herbs can typically be foraged in the wild or purchased from various apothecaries, during the quest, players will not have the luxury of buying them. Instead, they must unlock a chest found in the physician’s room, which holds all the necessary components.
Acquiring Lockpicks
To access the chest, players will need lockpicks. Here’s how to obtain them:
- Visit the Stables at Trosky Castle and talk to Kabat, a local trader.
- If funds permit, purchase a lockpick directly from him.
- If not, Kabat will request you retrieve his stolen rosary from Father Nicodemus. This can be accomplished either by winning it in a dice game or by picking it from Father Nicodemus’ belongings.
- Returning the rosary to Kabat will earn you a couple of free lockpicks as reward.
With lockpicks acquired, players can now access the physician’s chest. Inside, they will find the recipe for the Fever Tonic, which must be crafted and then delivered to Thomas to advance the quest.
Crafting the Fever Tonic

Once you have all the essential ingredients and completed the previous steps, follow this process to effectively brew the Fever Tonic:
- Step 1: Pour Wine into the cauldron as the potion’s base.
- Step 2: Integrate three Feverfew herbs into the mixture.
- Step 3: Allow the Feverfew to boil for two cycles of the sandglass timer.
- Step 4: Crush a portion of Elderberry Leaves and mix them into the cauldron.
- Step 5: Add two Ginger pieces into the mixture.
- Step 6: Commence the distillation process by selecting a phial and interacting with the distillation flask when prompted.
Post-Quest Use of Fever Tonic

While the Fever Tonic is primarily crafted for the main quest, it serves a specific function aimed at healing Sir Thomas, enabling him to assist in saving Hans Capon from execution. After completing this quest, however, the potion does not hold any functional benefits for Henry, as it does not enhance his health or attributes.
Despite its limited utility, players can still find value in any surplus Fever Tonics they’ve prepared. By selling them to apothecary traders or herbal merchants, players can convert these tonics into Groschen, providing a useful means of income and enhancing their financial resources.
