With Black Myth: Wukong, players have the ability to transform into bosses they have already defeated. This guide will provide information on each boss and how to obtain their transformation.
Fans of Journey to the West, the 16th-century novel that served as the inspiration for Black Myth: Wukong, will recognize Sun Wukong’s ability to transform into various creatures. Game Science has skillfully incorporated this fascinating aspect of the story into the game’s mechanics.
In Black Myth: Wukong, there are a total of 91 bosses, such as the challenging Wandering Wight and the exasperating Whiteclad Noble. While not all bosses are capable of shapeshifting, there are some that players can transform into in order to utilize their abilities.
There are two main methods for utilizing this ability: through spells or spirits, both of which are acquired by defeating bosses. As a result, the Destined One can transform into every possible form.
All Spell Transformations in Black Myth: Wukong
Wolf Guai: Red Tides
This is the only transformation you acquire in Chapter 1.
To unlock the Wolf Guai transformation, defeat Guangzhi and retrieve his fiery dual blade.
Directions: To find Guangzhi’s lair, make your way to Outside the Forest Shrine and ascend the hill through the forest. Once you reach a small bridge, cross it and you will reach Guangzhi’s lair.
One of the initial transformations that you will be able to access is the light attack, Moon Dance. This enables you to unleash a series of slashing attacks while also accumulating Focus.
Alternatively, the powerful move Moon Chase enables you to execute a string of charging attacks. You can also utilize a unique heavy attack upon successfully dodging at maximum Focus.
Rock Band: Azure Dust
To unlock, you must complete the Man-in-Stone side quest.
After emerging victorious against the King of Flowing Sands and Second Rat Prince in Sandgate Village, make your way across the rope bridge to locate the Squall Hideout Shrine. Continue down the path towards the ravine and you will encounter the Man-in-Stone boss.
The Azure Dust Spell possesses a unique capability that bestows immunity to all four Banes. These status effects are present in the game, and this transformation will provide protection against any of them.
Aside from that, you possess a couple of impressive attacks. Your Light Attack, Earth Shatter, involves three head-on collisions with an enemy. Your Heavy Attack, Mountain Splitter, propels you forward to crush any obstacles in your way.
Additionally, you will receive the powerful spell Rockfall, which can activate when you accumulate a sufficient amount of Focus. This spell will cause you to leap and slam into the ground, unleashing a devastating area-of-effect attack.
Rat Guai: Ashen Slumber
To unlock, simply defeat the Third Rat Prince boss in Chapter Three.
In Chapter Two, head to Sandgate Village and speak with a rat NPC inside a house. They will instruct you to defeat the First and Second Rate Prince bosses. In Chapter Three, complete the prisoner quest and the Great Pagoda Realm wards. Then, locate the Third Rat Prince by traveling through a small tunnel in the same area where you found the prisoner.
The defining feature of this spell is its Rage Burst, which grants a small increase in Scorch damage with each talent level (there are a total of six ranks).
Your Light Attack, Chop Wood, involves slashing your blade in front of you, while your Heavy Attack, Blow Fire, allows you to exhale fire from your mouth by holding down the attack button.
When you acquire Ashen Slumber, you also gain the Spell Fiery Burst, which causes you to burst out of your transformation and inflict massive AoE damage on nearby enemies.
Yin Tiger: Ebon Flow
To unlock, simply defeat the Yin Tiger boss in Chapter Three.
Where to find the Yin Tiger: Upon completing Chen Loong’s side quest, you will gain access to the Painted Realm. Within this realm, you will have the opportunity to battle the Yin Tiger.
The Unique Talent for Ebon Flow provides you with Cold Edge, which effectively reduces the cooldown of all your Alteration Spells. Additionally, your special trait enables you to perform deflection and teleport dash moves.
The Onslaught Blade, known for its slow yet powerful swipes, allows you to accumulate Focus. When charged, the Rift Cleaver delivers a fierce strike that requires time, but the damage inflicted increases with higher levels of Focus.
The Windwalker spell will transform your Focus into speed, causing any dodges you perform to morph you into a powerful gust of wind. While in the Windwalker state, your Light Attack is known as Stormsurge, enabling you to swiftly approach your target and deliver a devastating strike.
Monk from the Sea: Hoarfrost
To unlock, you must defeat the boss Monk from the Sea.
The boss can be found in the New Thunderclap Temple, located in Chapter Three. Simply walk along the path to your right to reach it.
As your Unique Talent, Snow Veil, has six ranks, each level slightly increases the Frost damage you deal. Additionally, the Trait you receive allows your attacks to inflict the Frost Bane on enemies.
Tentacle Flick is the Light Attack that allows you to strike enemies with your tentacles and accumulate Focus. Tentacle Sweep, your Heavy Attack, is a powerful sweeping strike that also generates Focus.
Your ability, Ice Sheet, requires all of your Focus to form a massive layer of ice around you. This causes anyone standing on it to be afflicted with the Frost Bane. While standing on the ice, you gain access to unique Light and Heavy Attacks, as well as the abilities Snowball Fight and Avalanche.
Macaque Chief: Umbral Abyss
To unlock, all you need to do is finish Chapter Three.
The Unique Talent Red Eyes is possessed by Umbral Abyss. This ability grants a slight increase in attack for an extended period after defeating an enemy, with the potential to stack up to 30 times (available in two ranks). Additionally, the Transformation’s Trait will cause Frost Bane to be inflicted with each attack.
With your Light Attack, you execute rapid slashes with your blade. The last slash inflicts increased damage, providing you with a significant amount of Focus. Your Heavy Attack, on the other hand, is a more powerful strike that may be slower, but still grants you Focus.
The Cold Heart Spell puts you in a state of being Cold-Hearted, enhancing your attacks and granting you the ability to transform into mist when dodging. Additionally, it enables you to swiftly approach an enemy and deliver a powerful strike.
Yellow Loong: Golden Lining
To unlock, Chapter Four’s Yellow Loong must be defeated.
Where to Find the Boss: The boss can be found at the Relief of the Fallen Loong Shrine, but in order to access it, you will need to obtain the Loong Scale. This will require you to defeat the first three Loong bosses.
Your Unique Talent, Lightning Flash, enhances your invincibility duration while also allowing you to see through enemies. Additionally, your Trait bestows the ability to see through enemies and provides immunity to Shock and Thunder Bane attacks.
Lightning Dance is your Light Attack that allows you to swiftly strike your enemies in succession. Meanwhile, Fatal Shadow is your Heavy Attack, which requires you to charge up your strike for a deadly blow against your opponents.
The Heavy Attack, Death Trilogy, will replace Fatal Shadow when executed with at least one Focus Point. This move involves leaping into the air and crashing down on an enemy with your Thunder-infused weapon.
In addition, executing a Heavy Attack after a Light Attack will result in the accumulation of a Focus Point, allowing you to anticipate and counter an enemy’s attack.
Worm Trouble: Violet Hail
Unlocking method: Successfully defeat Daoist Mi in Chapter Four.
Location: To access the secret area on Purple Cloud Mountain, defeat Venom Daoist twice – first in the Pool of Shattered Jade and then in the Temple of Yellow Flowers. You will then encounter Daoist Mi in this location.
Your Unique Talent, Filthy Malice, enhances your Poison damage as you level up (has six ranks). Additionally, your Transformation Trait grants you immunity to Poison, adds Poison Bane to your attacks, and grants you the Self-Torment ability.
While your Light Attack involves slashing your opponent as usual, Self-Torment is your Heavy Attack that requires sacrificing some of your HP to imbue your blade with up to four larvae, which can then be used to inflict damage on your enemies.
The Spell Hive Mind enables you to detonate all of your larvae, causing immediate damage and restoring some of your depleted health. You can also trigger the explosion of your larvae by reversing their transformation.
Horse Trouble: Dark Thunder
To unlock: Save Horse Guai in Chapters One through Five.
The Transformation Trait for Dark Thunder provides immunity to Thunder, and causes all of your attacks to inflict the Thunder Bane status effect.
Lightning Lashes is your Light Attack that strikes the enemy in front of you, allowing you to accumulate Focus. As for Thunderbolt Sweep, the Heavy Attack, it involves lashing multiple enemies in succession, granting you even greater amounts of Focus.
With the use of your Lightning Infusion Spell, your whip will be infused with Thunder, causing you to enter the Thrilled State. In this state, your Light and Heavy Attacks will transform into Thunder Flurry and Thunder Dominion, respectively.
Thunder Dominion creates a Thunder Formation that intermittently strikes enemies within your reach, while Thunder Flurry makes each lash whip call forth a lightning strike.
Stone Monkey: Azure Dome
To unlock, one must discover the hidden ending and successfully defeat the final boss, the Stone Monkey.
Your Unique Talent, Indestructible, significantly enhances your ability to resist the four Banes. Additionally, your Trait provides immunity to Shock and Poison, and allows you to convert Frost and Scorch to further empower yourself.
Your Light Attack, Primal Punch, involves unleashing a series of punches to generate Focus. As for your Heavy Attack, Earthshatter Slam, it allows you to jump and land on your opponent, simultaneously replenishing some of your health.
In addition, you will receive the Spell Monkey Mind feature, enabling you to cast spells from your equipped arsenal. This includes the abilities Rock Slide and Cloud Step, as well as A Pluck of Many. Furthermore, when deciding between Immobilize or Ring of Fire, you have the option to infuse your fists with either Ice or Fire.
All Spirit Transformations
Spearbone spirit can be collected by defeating the boss in Yellow Wind Ridge.
Spirits are short-lived transformations that grant the ability to use an attack from the defeated boss. Once the transformation expires, the Spirit disappears. You can only have one Spirit equipped at a time, and it will provide a passive effect that remains active even when you are not transformed.
After defeating specific bosses, players can acquire spirits. These spirits can be absorbed by using the Blessed Gourd, which becomes available for use after talking to the wise master located on the Snake Trail in the Bamboo Grove.
