Assassin’s Creed Shadows presents players with a sprawling open world where exploration is at the forefront. While fast travel options become available eventually, players will initially rely on their trusty steed for transportation. Below, we outline the steps to summon your mount efficiently in this enticing adventure.

To call your mount, ensure you are outside of your hideout. The game prohibits mounting within the confines of your hideout, which is relatively compact. However, if you are engaged in a quest, be aware that there may be instances when you cannot call your horse. These are the primary limitations to consider.

If there are no restrictions, summoning your mount is as easy as pressing down on the D-pad. Some players might find it more effective to hold the D-pad down for a brief moment. Your character uses a whistle to beckon the mount, so a quick tap might not register if you are engaged in another action simultaneously.

Once mounted, you can prepare for potential encounters by changing your stance. Simply press X or Square to ready yourself for a jump or combat engagement. This feature allows for a strategic advantage in battles while riding.

Have you noticed a subtle white line directing you toward your quest objectives? This feature is known as Pathfinder. To activate Pathfinder, simply tap and hold left on the D-pad; this can be done whether you are on a mount or not.

The pathfinder line provides a clear route to your goal, favoring roads over shortcuts through forests. This feature saves time, allowing you to focus on the action rather than constantly checking the map.

Keep in mind that Pathfinder will only display your current quest marker. If you have multiple objectives, it typically highlights the main quest first. To deactivate Pathfinder, just press the left on the D-pad again.
