Guide to Switching to the Manor Lords Beta Branch on Steam

Launched in early access last year, Manor Lords has undergone significant transformations, including a notable transition to Unreal Engine 5. Players eager to experience new features, gameplay systems, and balancing tweaks can participate in public testing via the Beta branch available on Steam. How to Access the Manor Lords Beta Branch

Prior to switching to the Beta branch, it’s essential for players to back up their local save files. This precaution helps to prevent any potential data loss while indulging in the new features and content.

Locating Your Manor Lords Save Files

Your Manor Lords save files are typically stored in the following directory on your PC:

C:\Users\[Your Windows Username]\AppData\Local\ManorLords\Saved\SaveGames

Make sure to back up the entire contents of the SaveGames folder to ensure future access.

Steps to Switch to the Beta Branch

Once you’ve secured your save files, follow these steps to access the beta version of Manor Lords through Steam:

  • Open your Steam library and right-click on Manor Lords.
  • Select Properties and navigate to the Betas tab.
  • Enter the following code in the Private Betas field:

veryNiceBasket

  • (Note: This code may change with future updates to the beta branch.)
  • After entering the code, click the blue button that appears, which will add you to the beta branch.

  • Steam will commence downloading additional files (approximately 1 GB in my case) from the beta branch. If the download doesn’t start automatically, simply restart the Steam client.
  • Ensure that the correct beta branch is selected under the Beta Participation option, indicated as “pre_release” .

After completing these steps, launching the game will display the correct version at the bottom right of the main menu.

How to Opt-Out of the Beta Branch

Once the update is live in the main game build, it is advisable to opt-out of the beta branch. This process is straightforward: go to the Betas tab for Manor Lords in Steam and choose “None” from the dropdown menu next to Beta Participation.
