While Pokémon TCG Pocket emphasizes card collection, many players are eager for a more competitive experience, including deck-building and battling. The desire to engage with your cards in actual gameplay is palpable. However, battles are not immediately accessible in the game. If you’re unsure of the steps, you might find yourself waiting longer than necessary to unlock this feature. Fortunately, you can start battling right after your initial game session, and we’re here to guide you through the unlocking process.
Unlocking Battles in Pokémon TCG Pocket
As you embark on your journey in Pokémon TCG Pocket, your first order of business will be to complete the introductory tutorial. This phase of the game will familiarize you with essential mechanics such as opening card packs, understanding the stamina system, and exploring the unique Wonder Picks.
However, ceasing experimentation after the tutorial can lead to a standstill. New gameplay features will only reveal themselves as you interact with the user interface. Notably, the fourth icon—representing battles—will remain locked until you reach level four.
Generally, experience points are primarily earned through opening card packs, but initially, your stamina may be depleted, preventing you from acquiring more packs.
To expedite your journey to level four, utilize your Wonder Pick stamina strategically. Applying Pack Hourglasses and Wonder Hourglasses allows you to draw additional cards. This approach is essential since it is your sole option for gaining experience before accessing battles, unless you wish to wait for stamina recovery. Opening just two or three packs should easily elevate you to level four, unlocking the battle feature.
Understanding Battle Dynamics in Pokémon TCG Pocket
Battles in the game are available in two modes: Versus and Solo. In Versus mode, players can engage with friends or other players, while Solo mode allows you to compete against AI. It’s noteworthy that only Versus mode offers experience points, signaling a potential area for future enhancements in player rewards to nurture a competitive community.
Solo mode, on the other hand, significantly aids in leveling up and provides various rewards, such as shop points and Pack Hourglasses. Each Solo battle is shaped by the current Pokémon set available in the expansion, featuring different challenges and opponents. The diverse rewards available make participation in Solo battles practically essential, as acquiring these perks is straightforward.
If upon starting you are unsatisfied with the cards you’ve collected, don’t worry—re-rolling your account is a viable option. Since there are no time restrictions in unlocking the battle feature, you can continue to draw cards until you find the ones you desire.
