Guide to Utilizing the Blueprint Designer in Satisfactory

Satisfactory features one of the most intricate building mechanics found in survival-crafting and base-building games. Players may spend countless hours designing a factory aimed at producing a specific item. However, when the game necessitates the need for multiple factories producing the same product, repetitive design can be tedious. Fortunately, the game includes a Blueprint Designer feature tailored for this purpose. Here’s how to unlock and utilize the Blueprint Designer in Satisfactory.

The Blueprint Designer Mk.1 becomes available after progressing to Tier 4 – Ficsit Blueprint. To craft one, you need the following materials:

  • 15x Modular Frame
  • 25x Cable
  • 100x Concrete
  • 100x Steel Beam

The Blueprint Designer Mk.1 has dimensions of 32m x 32m x 32m and serves as a platform for developing a prototype of the factory you wish to build. For instance, you can design two Smelters and two Constructors that convert Iron Ingots into Iron Plates. As long as your configurations fit within the Blueprint Designer’s dimensions, they can be saved as blueprints. You’ll also gain access to the Blueprint Designer Mk.2 and Mk.3, which offer larger areas for design, introduced during Satisfactory’s 1.0 launch.

After finalizing your design, use the computer on the Blueprint Designer to access a menu for saving your blueprint. While the default save option is available, enhancing your blueprints with distinctive icons and memorable titles can streamline future organization. It’s advisable to add details in the information tab for better context.

Upon completion, save the blueprint through the computer interface. You can then clear the platform, which will relocate all items into the storage box beside the Blueprint Designer’s computer. Once cleared, you can proceed to create a new blueprint or load an existing one.

To load a blueprint, ensure you possess all the necessary materials listed for that blueprint. Place these materials in the storage box adjacent to the Blueprint Designer, as having them in your inventory will not suffice for loading.

Utilizing Custom Blueprints in Satisfactory

Now that you’ve learned how to create blueprints, it’s time to implement them. To do this, navigate to the build menu and locate the blueprint tab, which contains all your created blueprints. Keeping these organized by adding categories and sub-categories enhances ease of access.

Select the desired blueprint, and it should appear as a ghosted preview over the available area, indicating construction mode. However, ensure you have all required materials at hand as incomplete material lists will hinder the crafting process. Given that these blueprints can be quite extensive, having a spacious area is essential; consider constructing an elevated foundation or clearing obstacles like rocks and boulders.

Blueprints can reach up to three stories high, so unlocking the Jetpack can be beneficial for checking out the upper levels of your factory. Often, limited space does not allow for staircases, especially in highly optimized factories designed for mass production of single items.
