During its panel at Anime NYC on August 24, 2024, Bandai Namco Filmworks finally revealed the highly anticipated release date for the Gundam Silver Phantom anime. Exciting news for fans as the feature-length VR anime will be available on both the Meta Quest 2 and 3 starting October 3, 2024, at 1 pm EDT.
After the news was released, it sparked a tremendous amount of anticipation among the Gundam community. This is because Gundam Silver Phantom is expected to be yet another groundbreaking addition to the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise.
Along with the release date, a fresh trailer was revealed, offering a sneak peek at the anime’s visuals and storytelling for excited fans. This partnership with VR production company Atlas V will introduce the Gundam Silver Phantom as an ambitious and captivating addition to the Gundam franchise, pushing the limits of both anime and VR.
The Gundam Silver Phantom anime is directed by Kenichi Suzuki
As previously stated, the Gundam Silver Phantom is scheduled for release on October 3, 2024. The project was first announced at Anime NYC in November 2023 by Pierre Zandrowicz from Atlas V and Ken Iyadomi from Bandai Namco Filmworks.
Zandrowicz believes that this is more than just a mere video game or story, but rather an “immersive adventure”that seamlessly merges the two worlds. It marks Sunrise’s initial collaboration with French company Atlas V to bring a fresh perspective to the Gundam franchise.
The direction of the anime is led by Kenichi Suzuki, known for his work on SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors and Gundam Evolve, while Ryoji Sekinishi, renowned for his involvement in Mobile Suit Gundam UC, is responsible for the script.
The Plot of Gundam Silver Phantom Anime
The central theme of the Gundam Silver Phantom anime centers around Argent Keil, a solitary mercenary group that operates independently from both the Federation and Zeon. They are secretly hired by the Federation Forces to eliminate Azami Megine, a prominent figure with connections to Zeon.
The organization’s objective is to prevent Azami’s deceit from being revealed to the public. However, before Argent Keil’s forces can commence their mission, they are unexpectedly attacked by a Jegan unit from the Federation Forces.
In the midst of the chaos, Argent Keil launches their silver Gundam into outer space, signaling the beginning of a tense battle.
